5. Retired General Hackworth is about to release
the names of 17 Senators who knew the scope of situation before the photos came to light. Hackworth is apparently the one who spearheaded the tip-off to CBS.

3. Hard to Prove
I mean there are reasons they might have known and reasons they might not have. Certainly the military investigation was started a while ago; so it's possible they were informed at that time. It also seems like that they'd be more up in arms if they didn't know--they are reacting to it, but not very strongly. Of course much of that is that the Congressional Leadership is mostly Republican.
