"Notice we don't have anywhere near the casualties in Afghanistan......of course we have a right to be there because they did attack us.....Iraq didn't."

A few things to say. First of all the reason we don't have as many casualties in afghanistan is because their population is nothing like Iraq's, they have no major cities like Iraq, they dont have the urban areas at all like Iraq. It is much easier to fight in open areas and mountain ranges than in the cities and towns of Iraq.

Two, we do have a right to be in Iraq. They kicked out the UN and wouldnt let them back in, somebody had to do something. Personally i think we waited too long as it was, there is a very good possibility those WMB have been moved or sold off to other countries. Iraq didnt attack us? Thats funny. Let us talk about the USS Cole...since Clinton didn't seem to think it was all that important. The men who carried out that attack and that were involved with it, the two living members anyway fled to Iraq where they were given shelter, food, and congrats from saddam himself. It's always amusing to me how the democrats and anti-bushites always conveniently forget things when they are in debates. The problem with America today is too many people are scared of war, scared of action in general. Luckily its not the majority. The UN needs to be revamped or abolished totally, its not effective, nor does it serve a purpose other than humanitarian. That should be their job, humanitarian. Let the big boys take care of the rest. And as far as this abuse scandal, i bet your going to blame that on Bush too huh?

1. Couldn't do anything with it

Looks like it was locked or something. however, if you can continue the discussion, you mingt want to remind him that Iraq did NOT kick out the inspectors. Bush did that because he said they were ineffective (they were ineffective in finding WMDs-they stated pubically there were none, then Bush pulled them out). I'll let someone else here handle the Cole; I don't know the details and don't claim to be. I'd also close with how he must then be a Democrat because he forgot the facts that prove he is an idiot.

3. Well, from what I understood,

CIA didn't know for certain that it was al qaeda that attacked the Cole until January 2001. They suspected it was, but were not sure, otherwise Clinton would have looked for a military solution if one was clearly available. As it was, Yemen began working with the US to find the terrorists within their own country. Sorry, I have no links for you, but I think I heard it on PBS' Frontline.

As for abuse, I don't see how we can "win their hearts and minds" by picking up innocent civilians in sweeps, holding them for three months, torturing them, and letting them go. My guess is that the contractors in Fallujah were killed in retribution for torture in Abu Ghraib. (Believe me, rape victims have enough anger to return the torture.)

4. Hypocrites!
When Clinton bombed Iraq in 1998 they accused him of "wagging the dog"

http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=14642

For that matter, according to AP, Monica Lewinsky was the top news story of 1998, followed by the Sosa/McGuire home runs...

#4 was Hurricane Mitch, the deadliest Atlantic storm in 2 centuries killed 11,000 (eleven thousand, as in roughly three to four times the number killed 9-11-01) people.

#5 Iraq showdown

and, ah, the African embassy bombings, an inauspicious #7.

are we screwed up or what?

5. he's an idiot
bush pulled out the inspectors because he knew there weren't any weapons and just couldn't wait to get his war on

as for the Cole, we didn't know which terrorist group it was because (contrary to the misconceptions of the dumbass american populace) there are many different groups, none of which were ever tied to iraq because saddam ran a secular government. And Clinton only had another few weeks left in his term when it was attacked but he still did all he could

9. We left the warlords in charge
That might have something to do with how "peaceful" it is in Afghanistan. Not that it is, the fighting just doesn't make the news unless a football star dies. And I have absolutely nothing against him or his service, just against American people who are just oblivious.

10. That board moves much slower than this board
Lately it has been taken over by repukes saying how great shrub is. Register and help fight back. Also I encourage everyone to start a local message board. It helped us get rid of our loser of mayor.

11. I wouldn't waste my time with someone who makes things up
as he goes or relys on the urban legends. Tell the poster to read Richard Clarke's book. It is all in there and everything he says has been verified by others.
