So WHAT? That's NOT the story of Abu Ghraib. Though some people want it to be.

Do you see what's happening here? The torture story is mutating into a titilation. We'll see photos of consensual sex between Lynndie England and her boyfriend before those of the rape of Iraqi prisoners.

The atrocities, and Iraqis themselves, are receding from the story. It's becoming all about England the sordid sex queen. The public can feign horror at her exploits, while at the same time getting off on them. The torture becomes the kinky play of an S&M dungeon.

Don't let it happen!

It'll just make everybody realize how completely out of control it was over there. And that Lynndie is no "good girl" who was just "in the wrong place at the wrong time". It was anything goes, no discipline, no order, no commanders taking responsibility. And that takes it up to the top, where we need it to go.

I hope.
