Not a fucking chance. This Taguba hearing is nothing more than a save Don Rumsfeld whitewash. The Conservatives try as they may will never, ever be able to bottle this scandal up. The old repeat a lie over and over gambit may work on Moron Americans but it ain't gonna work on the folks who hate us and now hate us even more. The Arab world simply will not buy that this was only 6 or 7 bad apples. One, seven, fifty, do you think it matters? This will blow over in a week or so in this country but not in the places that we are supposed to win hearts and minds.

Remember folks...Winning hearts and minds was a key ingredient in the Neo-Cons vision for Mid-East domination. This torture scandal is one major stake into the heart of that philosophy.

4. No. Way. In. Hell.
They knew since last fall that we were the "new boss, same as the old boss."

It is SOOOO over. There is no choice but to leave -- we will not be forgiven in this century.

6. Not a snowball's chance in hell.
I agree, moron america might, to some extent, but it won't fly over there.... Hell, Bush's 'apology' over there was aired on a channel watched by 6% of the population, and wasn't even translated, and wasn't even an apology. Trying so hard, aren't they? Only to deceive the sheeple!

7. No amount of whitewash will cover that amount of
excrement on the walls. It just keeps bleeding through and reappearing. This isn't going away that easily.

9. Which Arabs?
Arabs live in Saudi Arabia. Everyone there knows Bush is full of it, but they don't care, because he does what they tell him. The people may not like Bush, but the leaders are happy to have someone else spend the money on the war and lose their lives over it.

If by "Arabs" you mean the broader group of Arabic people, ie those who speak a form of Arabic, or if you just mean Muslims in the Middle East, they have never bought anything Bush has said, they are just playing whatever angle they can to use the US however they can. That's the part our leaders are too stupid to get. We think you go into some place, you kill the leader, and those who side with you are your friends, and those who try to kill you are your enemies. They don't understand the degree to which we are seen as a tool, or rather as a large attack bear. Whoever gets control of us gets to use us against their enemies.

And then there are the common people, the Middle Eastern equals to most of us here, and all they get to do is shut up, die or be tortured, no matter who is in power.

None of them have been fooled for one moment by all of this. People in the Middle East are much smarter when it comes to manipulation and fractionalized power struggles. Regular people just do what the guy with the gun says. All they want is peace. If Bush gives it to them, if Hussein does, of Squiggy the Wonder Watermelon gives it to them, they go along, and keep their opinions to themselves. Prisons are full of people who have opinions. Which is another reason polls are meaningless. Ideals are a luxury most can't afford.

12. You bet! here's proof - my sig:
"After the torture and vile acts by the American army, President Bush goes out and congratulates Rumsfeld. It's just incredible. I am in total shock," said the editor of the influential Algerian national daily al-Watan.
