Well, it's official: Karpinski + 6
Edited on Tue May-11-04 11:52 AM by Junkdrawer
The position of the administration and the Republican party as a whole is now that General Karpinski's lack of leadership and the sadistic actions of a handful of guards are the Alpha and Omega of the scandal.

Moreover, someone has got to Taguba. His position on record is now to support these conclusions. He further states that he found no evidence of policies to the contrary and has even stated that all the pictures were taken with personal cameras.

I don't buy it for a minute. I agree with Sen. Levin that it is obvious that this form of torture was directed, condoned and widespread. However, unless we get more evidence somewhere, the Republicans have a much better than even chance of successfully whitewashing this scandal.

19. This picture proves that all cameras were not personal cameras. . .
. . . this picture was taken (in my belief) by a prison mounted camera. The angle is looking down at the subjects and the dramatic diminishing perspective with a wide angle lens shows that it is unlikely anyone was holding the camera. This was no quick pic snapshot taken by an MP with a throw-away camera for his scrapbook. The lens on this camera had to be quite substantial.

4. And reality is she should pay but....
the MI reported directly to Sanches. they are avoiding the issue

And this will only affect morale, everybody in the army knows that
Privates and Brigadiers do not make policy in the US Army

7. My hubby and I were talking about it
they do not realize that they are truly destroying the army

How did that general put it over the weekend?

Oh yes

They are destroying the Army and they don't care

How many troops and young officers will want to stay in?

Oh and this is in mamy ways Tailhook II... pass the buck, don't look, ah much better

At least Taquba was very open, control rested with MI, I am sure his career is now over, he has been sidelined to Doctrine for the reserves...

15. Lets go to the top
Leave MaJ General Miller, how about Lt. General Sanchez, his Chain, insofar as MI goes, does not go through abizaid but directly to Carbone... lets end the line here Carbone reports to Rumsfled who reports to the President... this ends up at 1600 Penn, end of discusion

17. I pray you're right. But "losing" Taguba is a huge blow...
when I hear that, late last night, the rules were changed and that he was to appear with his bosses, I smelled a rat.

I wonder who Chimpy saw yesterday and if any "special" orders were given. :tinfoilhat:

the digital camera is probably a stinkin' liberal.

Seriously, the wicked bu$h* cabal will not be able to whitewash the truth that is leaking out via these modern inventions. And GHWBush was awed by the grocery scanner. Ha!

Karma kicking: remember the woman who was fired for taking photos of flag-covered coffins (and they fired her co-worker husband as well). I'm sure the bu$hies wish controlling those photos was all they had to worry about right now.
