And the bloodbath begins, this is going to be very ugly
http://apnews.excite.com/article/20040511/D82GG9SO0.html

CAIRO, Egypt (AP) - A video posted Tuesday on an Islamic militant Web site appeared to show a group affiliated with al-Qaida beheading an American in Iraq, saying the death was revenge for the prisoner-abuse scandal.

The video showed five men wearing headscarves and black ski masks, standing over a bound man in an orange jumpsuit who identified himself as an American from Philadelphia.

After reading a statement, the men were seen pulling the man to his side and cutting off his head with a large knife. They then held the head out before the camera.

2. God damn it.
We told them and told them and told them. We were right,
but we're the unpatriotic ones.

7. Supposedly...
...the video says they were doing it in retaliation for the prison abuse, which although many there knew it was happening prior to the Fallujah bridge thing, I don't know that it's this guy. There was also a convoy that was ambushed and prisoners were taken and one was reported to have been beheaded.

13. This article says it is
...who identified himself as Nick Berg, a U.S. contractor whose body was found on a highway overpass in Baghdad on Saturday.

"My name is Nick Berg, my father's name is Michael, my mother's name is Susan," the man said on the video. "I have a brother and sister, David and Sarah. I live in ... Philadelphia."

After reading a statement, the men were seen pulling the man to his side and putting a large knife to his neck. A scream sounded as the men cut his head off, shouting "Allahu Akbar!" -- "God is great." They then held the head out before the camera.

"For the mothers and wives of American soldiers, we tell you that we offered the U.S. administration to exchange this hostage with some of the detainees in Abu Ghraib and they refused," one of the men read from a statement.

"So we tell you that the dignity of the Muslim men and women in Abu Ghraib and others is not redeemed except by blood and souls. You will not receive anything from us but coffins after coffins ... slaughtered in this way."

6. Is this the guy they found on an overpass in Baghdad?
The corpse was a guy from West Chester which is west of Philly, I wonder if it's the same person. Whatever the case, it's frightening. :scared:

12. Maupin is no doubt a dead man now
whereas before the Iraqi's were letting them go unharmed - he is obviously unharmed in the photo.....

although Bush sentenced him to die when he would not negotiate a prisoner exchange.

I find the term "thought to be associated with Al Queda" - huh? I would imagine they were just Iraqi's.

chimpy just may have his pre-election attack on these shores. Then we can have the martial law that rwingers lust after. Maybe that's been part of the strategy all along.

but I guess it is only really "ugly" when some American invader is the one on the receiving end.
