Pa. family angry with American government over son's brutal death

By JASON STRAZIUSO
The Associated Press
5/11/2004, 2:34 p.m. ET

...

Michael Berg lashed out at the U.S. military and Bush administration, saying his son might still be alive had he not been detained by U.S. officials in Iraq without being charged and without access to a lawyer.

Nick Berg, a small telecommunications business owner, spoke to his parents on March 24 and told them he would return home on March 30. But Berg was detained by Iraqi police at a checkpoint in Mosul on March 24. He was turned over to U.S. officials and detained for 13 days.

His father, Michael, said his son wasn't allowed to make phone calls or contact a lawyer.

...

"I think a lot of people are fed up with the lack of civil rights this thing has caused," he said. "I don't think this administration is committed to democracy."

1. Wow....
his comments are hard hitting.
I still believe that these "masked terrorists" aren't what we're
being let to believe. Something is just not right.
I think that the sheeple are once again being "desensitized" and
at the same time being distracted from the prison torture
chambers. So, one American beheaded is a tragedy and the torture,
raping and killings of Iraqis in prisons is nothing to be concerned
about?

Then why the outcry against Saddam? Then why the outcry against
the Nazi, Soviet Russians, North Koreans, etc?

2. I believe this guy is from West Chester, PA...
...the center of the Republican stronghold known as Chester County. Either Mr. Berg is going to get lots of death threats and hate mail for speaking ill of the pResident, or this event might make a lot of area Repubs take their heads out of the sand.

4. Unfortunately
I think the death threats are going to be heading his way. These aren't exactly a classy bunch we're dealing with.

6. The sorry price of puting a meathead into the Oval Office.
We pay for our stupidity when it comes to voting.

Vote Lolo, get Lolo... its as simplistic as that.

America has to learn how to vote smart, avoid loloism.

5. DIA is a more likely suspect, I think.
Given that they're the ones with a motive. Not saying I think it's either one, but it certainly is fishy.

17. Col. Michael Aquino worked for the Defense Intelligence Agency.
Michael Aquino was on active duty with the US Army in intelligence when he went from being a Church of Satan priest to completely taking over the Church of Satan and replacing it with his own cult/religion the Temple of Set in 1975.

Consider the cult influence on the culture of MI, and particularly Col. Aquino.

Here are some links so that one gets a feeling for what I'm discussing-the abuse of the classification and national security system to cover horrific crimes and shut down law enforcement investigations and cases citing "national security".

9. but how long ago did this happen?
and why is the news just now trotting it out? That's the question you need to ask. It sounds like a bit of timed-news-release designed to help people "get over" the torture of Iraqis.

12. It's wrong . . . The FReepers listed his name as a supporter of
protest rally. See thread entitled "should the Berg video be shown?"

14. That was his father, from the story:
Edited on Tue May-11-04 02:46 PM by NewYorkerfromMass
"...Berg's mother, Suzanne Berg, said her son was in Iraq to help rebuild communication antennas. "He had this idea that he could help rebuild the infrastructure," she said. Michael Berg described himself as fervently anti-war, but said his son disagreed with him. "He was a Bush supporter," Berg said. "He looked at it as bringing democracy to a country that didn't have it."

20. True only to a point.
Ultimately the George W. Bush this man supported was not the glorious and noble man he no doubt imagined him to be.

11. Has the BushCo October surprise already begun?
...I am truly sorry for the family of Michael Berg for what has happened to their son. I admire their courage and especially the courage of his father for speaking out at this most difficult of times for them. I pray that justice will prevail.
