2. Go Nelson!
If the Secretary and others knew about the torture in January, what was the Army's plan to deal with the consequences of those abuses?

_Series of investigations; those series of problems. Acting Sec of Army wanted to look throughout the Army to look at how detainees were being treated.

Starting on Feb 11, the mission to conduct a functional analysis of army internment, detention and interrogation policies based on current DoD policies.

Nelson: Once they found out about those abuses, consequences in Iraq were going to be inimical to our purpose. What were the Army's plans?

The Army has not developed a plan. We are looking at all the things we ought to do. What are the things we have to show, what other venues should we do, what actions should be taken in the leadership to show that we are sorry. How do we police up our own ranks.

3. Did anyone discuss the ramifications?
No sir, the Army had no idea about what the reactions would be.

We all are concerned that these events will increase attacks on soldiers and civilians.

(Essentially, we have no fucking clue what the hell we're going to do. And yes - this will increase Al Qaeda and terrorist recruiting. And yes, we were clearly inept and incompetent in understanding Muslim sensitivities.)
