A naked Iraqi detainee cowering under threat from two U.S. military dogs

This photo, courtesy of the New Yorker magazine, shows a naked Iraqi detainee cowering under threat from two American military dogs in the infamous Abu Ghraib prison. It was said to have been taken last December. Photo:

This is sanctioned, organized terror! Look at the goons with the dogs. They are executing a planned, preconcieved method of torture. Anyone who doesn't believe that this technique was sanctioned from the top brass is kidding themselves.

Who was in charge?

Pentagon backed interrogations

The US officer in charge of military jails in Iraq, Major-General Geoffrey Miller, was earlier commander at Guantanamo Bay. His role in last year's proposals continues to draw scrutiny. An army inquiry into the abuse in Iraq took issue with the system he set up at Guantanamo, where he says he oversaw 22,000 interrogations. But the success of his "Tiger Teams" in grilling terrorist suspects won him praise from his superiors.

A former British special forces officer who had just returned from Iraq said the sexual humiliation of Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib jail was part of a system used by special forces soldiers that was now being used by ordinary troops and contractors who do not know what they are doing.

>>>>>>>

Female guards were used to taunt male prisoners sexually, and at British training sessions when female candidates were undergoing resistance training they would be subject to lesbian jibes.

"The crucial difference from Iraq is that frontline soldiers who are made to experience R2I techniques themselves develop empathy," the former Special Boat Squadron (elite force) officer said. "They realise the suffering they are causing. But people who haven't undergone this don't realise what they are doing to people. It's a shambles in Iraq."

1. On a side note
Some Muslims consider dogs a sign of Satan.
If a dog even darkens your doorway they bring evil with them.
This was as much psychological as physical torture and you bet it was well thought out. (Talk about a dumb move... publishing to the Muslim world that the US=the great Satan the extremists have been yakking about for years!)

2. In the later stills the dogs attack the prisoner.
He winds up on the floor bleeding profusely from major wounds in his legs.
