IMPEACH BUSH---Will it Happen?
Edited on Fri May-14-04 07:30 AM by indigobusiness
Bill Clinton was impeached for lying about a sexual affair.
Anybody care to list the impeachable lies and deeds of George Bush.
Let's compare the casualty count.

5. People in general, yes
But the only ones who really matter are the 435 who get to vote on impeachment and I just don't see it happening.

8. If the water gets too deep
Not many will tread water if it means they will be sink with an incompetent war criminal at the helm.

In my fondest dreams he would be shamed before the world...officially, but what feasibly will happen is that he will lose the election in a big way-- the way this ball is finally rolling down hill.

21. I just hope it snaps some people out of
their selfish delusions. We need real compassion and understanding or we are doomed. This nation isn't invincible.

4. Our only real hope is
That the stuff that's starting to taint the Annointed One's image will stick and stay in the public conciousness until November. That's our job to ensure it does. The Rethugs and the Puppy Press ain't gonna do it for us.

6. Please
You actually think spending $150-$200 billion (so far) on a war based on lies that has cost us close to 800 American lives (and not to mention thousands of Iraqi lives), created an Al Qaeda recruiting bonanza and disdain around the world is a worse offense than lying about a blowjob?

What planet are you on? Getting a BJ in office is a surely the greatest evil ever perpertrated in the history of the world.

10. Of course not.
Even if it were possible, which it isn't given the makeup of congress, there isn't time before November.

Findings from a New National Poll show support for Impeachment, Growing Opposition to War on Terrorism

BERKELEY - May 11 - Reporting from an ongoing survey of public knowledge and opinion, Berkeley based NGO Retro Poll released startling results suggesting that 39% of Americans favor impeachment of President Bush. The poll, taken between April 19 and May 5 asked whether people believe that misleading Congress and the Public on weapons of mass destruction to take the country to war is grounds to impeach the President (39% said yes, 40% said no). On whether the U.S. should have invaded Iraq the poll results are consistent with findings of Gallup and other major polls (48% said yes).

Other surprising findings were that almost half of respondents (46%) favor an independent investigation of the U.S. role in the overthrow of Haiti's democratically elected president, Juan Bertrand Aristide, and 57% favor a national moratorium on the death penalty because of the procedural problems that have put many innocent people on death row (112 released so far). Four out of five Americans also repudiate the use of torture.

As in earlier Retro Polls most support for the war in Iraq and the War on Terrorism was found among people who still think that Saddam Hussein worked with Al Qaeda (though no evidence has been published) and among the 32% of people who believe the War on Terrorism is preventing terrorism. However, 24% of Americans believe that the War on Terrorism is actually creating terrorists. In addition, 56 % of people who gave an opinion say the War on Terrorism is removing important democratic rights in the US and large percentages (50-80%) oppose various intrusive provisions of the USA PATRIOT Act.

The poll reached 513 random Americans and has a "margin of error" of +/- 3.5% Full results are available at www.retropoll.org .

14. You have to be able to count votes.
This is why it's so important to know the history of the House and Senate. LBJ was famous for his ability to know the exact count that would occure on any and every vote. It's not going to happen for two reasons: first, there simply aren't enough votes now in either the House oe Senate; and because bush ain't gonna be in the White House after the election.
The sad thing is that Clinton, of course, should never have been impeached, and that bush, even more than any other president in our nation's history, should be impeached.

17. It's an election year
So i don't think it will happen until after the election, as anybody in the Democratic party would kind of know that an impeachment drive would a) be unsuccessful, b) hurt Kerry's chances.

If President Bush win's relection (I'm throwing salt over my shoulder as I type), then I'd say there is a pretty good chance.
