9-11 versus 9-1-1
If this has already been discussed here, sorry. It's a bit stale, but I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere.

Did anyone notice that after the sock puppet monkey in chief spoke to the NINE ELEVEN commission he came out and called it the NINE ONE ONE commission?

Was that a freudian slip or what?

Reminds me of the urban legend about the people who died in a house fire because they couldn't find the 'eleven' button on their phone.

1. 9-1-1 is for rescue
9/11 rescued his flailing presidency. I can see where he might see them as the same.

2. Also - whoever masterminded 9/11 - did they hope it would not only be
a day that lives in infamy but a date that conjures up instant and terrifying irony?

We're supposed to call 9-1-1 in an emergency. Those numbers saturate our society because of this safety net function and yet they trigger images of Sept 11, 2001 and essentially negate the sense of security and rescue you might feel in calling 9-1-1.

Helplessness and threat instead of competence and security? I can't quite express it. . .

3. Years Ago, I Was Corrected by a Telephone Company Engineer
who make it very clear to me that was NOT "nine-eleven" but "nine-ONE-ONE."

So at least some people recognize a distinction even if their only concern is dialing patterns.
