Can Kerry win without doing a damn thing until September?
Looking at kerry's history, his MO apparently is to wallow until right before the election and then go for the kill.

Bush is hanging himself on Iraq without Kerry doing a damn thing. At this rate, Kerry doesn't need to do anything to distract people from the idiocy in the white house.

All he has to do is come out strong during the debates and in the weeks prior to the election when people start really paying attention and he should win easily.

1. Hope so...
That was the approach Kerry seemed to take in the primaries and it served him well.

2. I agree
I really feel like bush is sinking his own ship. While kerry sits back and keeps his hands clean.

4. it'd save money for a fall ad blitz
since bush is on the defensive right now, he doesn't need to spend much in the way of spending to get a "response to accusations" campaign like he was just after the primaries were wrapped up.

10. He gets a new bank account come the convention...
...if I understand the rules of campaign finance, his money now is usable till the convention, after which point he gets a check for $72 million.

5. You know...
Sometimes I think that if the maladministration continues to shoot itself in the foot with a General Electric 20mm Electric Gatling Gun and then try to brazen out of their footless status with idiotic and transparent lies, that it might just be possible.

But it would suck as a strategy.

6. well there is a strategy
maybe kerry can't win unless he does an under the radar campaign.

Maybe he has the personality that grates on you with overexposure.

We won't lose on the issues.

We may lose on personality and other crap that got Gore.

14. I don't want a personality.
I want a real and sane POTUS. Surrounded by other sane people who have ethics. Someone who remembers that there happens to be another 98.5% of the population, other than the 1.5% that controls 98% of the wealth.

It is time for some justice round these parts.

12. Scuse-he's NOT "without doing a damn thing"-he's been doing quite a bit
you're not paying attention-there's been more and more of it in the news as the media realizes Bush is a loser and a liar.

16. * is definitely self-destructing.
But I think Kerry needs to get the message out regarding his alternative vision. Maybe he doesn't need to but why leave anything to chance. It may get some undecideds and moderate Repubs who'd otherwise stay home to the polls, voting for Kerry. Kerry has gobs of money now, so I say go for it. He doesn't have to bash * much, real time is doing a fine job of that. But he should state how he's going to fix all the * messes. He is actually doing that, and I hope he keeps it up.

18. September is too late.
Kerry must make a great impression at the Democratic convention. That is a major hurdle. Enough people are open to getting rid of Bush*, but they have to be convinced that Kerry is the man to go to.

The convention is a key milestone for Kerry's election. Then, if there are debates, he can seal the deal.

19. money, money,money, money
Kerry is badly outfinanced. By waiting for the last part of the campaign he is allowing Bush to husband his money and blitz the electorate in the latter stages of the campaign....He should be challenging Bush constantly forcing the GOP to expend some of those funds now.

But WTF, Kerry is too damn busy agreeing with Bush in substance.

20. Yes
I said through the primaries, that electability didn't make much difference because the election will be about Bush, not the Democratic candidate. Either the voters will decide to reelect Bush or they won't. I think Kerry can sit on his porch or campaign. I don't think the November vote will be much different either way.

21. I remember Ronnie Ray-Gun
Doing the very same thing. During his re-election campaign he did not say a thing. He certainly had a lot of photo ops, but kept low otherwise. I think that Kerry has taken a page from that book, and will come out swinging AFTER the convention when the most people will be paying attention, and his campaign dollar will give the best return.
