Was the "Secret Unit" operating in Iraq also?
We were told that the "secret" unit was operating in Afghanistan to interrogate high-level al Qaeda suspects. They were not associated with any specific country so we could interrogate them without the restrictions of the Geneva Convention. Sy Hersh says that Rumsfeld authorized that "secret" unit to operate in Iraq also. Is that true?

Because Iraq was a country and the Geneva Convention rules would have to apply in Iraq if they were to have any legitimacy at all. Did Rumsfeld give his approval to the same interrogation tactics for Iraq that were used in Afghanistan? That seems to be the question that is hanging out there this morning. Rumsfeld or Dod says Hersh is not accurate. What is the truth?
