Will this put the McCain VP argument to bed?
http://quote.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000087&sid=aOU7ULWGnxyE&refer=top_world_news

May 16 (Bloomberg) -- Republican Senator John McCain ``categorically'' ruled out running for vice president with Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry in November.

``I've said categorically -- categorically -- I will not be vice president of the United States,'' McCain said on NBC's ``Meet the Press'' program today.

McCain, 67, of Arizona, has repeatedly denied any interest in serving as Kerry's running mate against President George W. Bush, a Republican whom McCain challenged for the party's nomination in 2000. McCain was responding to a report in the New York Times on Saturday that cited an unidentified Democratic Party official as saying Kerry ``continues to be interested'' in him.

``I'm a loyal Republican,'' McCain said today. ``I am supporting President Bush's re-election.''

1. No, because there are posters on this board with a vested interest...
...in stirring the pot in hopes of creating factions among Democrats.

The fact that "an unidentified Democratic Party official" was allegedly the source for this story should have been a major tip-off as to its origin.

3. Yes, but would McCain accept the VP spot from Bush?
If Rummy has to go, Dick goes to the Pentagon, and Bush make McCain an offer he can't refuse. Could Kerry beat a Bush/McCain ticket?

2. Hillary has said the same thing
But we still have people saying she might run! Some people just don't understand when someone says no, they mean no.

4. no
because deep down inside McCain is NOT a loyal Republican, he's a centrist that could pass for a Democrat. McCain hates Bush and would like to accept the position, he's just too entrenched with the GOP to try anything funny.

if McCain had to do it all over again, he'd be a Dem.

8. McCain is a republican
through and through. Just sometimes he thinks before opening his mouth. Kerry doesn't need him on the ticket. There are many loyal democrats who deserve the nod. McCain...good grief.

12. Please look up McCains voting record
He is more conservative than ANY Democrat in the Senate (except Miller). Compared to McCain, Lieberman is a Marxist.

10. McCain is positioning himself
for a run in 2008.

He said he does not want to be Vice President. I believe him. He wants the big job.

Hopefully, he can pull his party, and thus the entire country, back toward the center (or at minimum, the far right, which is still left of where * & Co are at the moment.)

11. he'll be 71!
too old!

right now he's not too old to be VP though, this is his last chance to run for an office this high, and he knows it.
