I Hope I'm Wrong,But Davis is toast!
People would rather have Arnold in office. Its all a gimmick that will wear off,but for now they LOVE the attention! His tough guy image is all they are voting for.Credentials?Expierence? Not important.

Susan Sarandon,Martin Sheen,Janeane Garoffalo,Alec Baldwin & Barbra Streisand are mocked for spekaing out against politcs, but when its a Republican, the rules change! All those people make more sense than Arnold does!

My mom this morning had an interesting theory.EVERYONE thought Arnold was gonna bow out.Even Jay Leno said Arnold told him before the show he wasn't running. My mom feels he will drop out at the last minute. That this is a way for Arnold to get attention & perhaps get better scripts. After all of this he will be hot again! No matter how bad his next movie is,it will be a hit because of all this media attention.Interesting, but I don't know.

California seems to really hate Gray.As sad & wrong as I think it is,I think Gray Davis is finished.GOD,I hope I am 100% wrong, but my gut tells me he's finished.

1. yes, but for the wrong reason
Davis needs to get 50% to keep his job.

Arnie probably needs less than 30% to get elected.

And the Greens and Libertarians and other assorted freaks will vote against Davis because they think this is their real chance to get their 5% candidate in office.

2. Cruz can win. And, recall can be defeated...
Calling Bob Mulholland... we do need to get down and dirty. There's little choice. People's illusions need to be punctured.

5. Both Cruz and Davis...
must make the argument that they are both fit for the office and at the same time not appear to be either attacking Arnuld on false grounds and the two must not be seen together!

7. Sunday overnight polls are 35% Arnold, 15% Cruz
I think this is Arnolds peak before he drops into the low 20's, but Cruz needs to grow his base a bit.

claims that 64% want to recall Davis and 42% would Consider voting for Arnuld!

15. davis is hurting cruz
the people are convinced that things are going in the wrong direction, yet Cruz Bustamante cannot really campaign on his own platform of cleaning up "the mess in sacramento" without it implicitly being a slam at Davis. therefore, Cruz is fighting with one hand tied behind his back. IMHO Davis should resign. in order to give Cruz the ability to campaign unhindered.

10. Agree
And attack the GOP outsider coup that is behind it all. But spend more time on offense and positive concrete pluses. hwerever they can be found.
Incumbency has its advantages. Use them all and yet let Bustamante play the new possibility.

9. disagree
the poll numbers even today are not that overwhelming on the recall question. figure he has 2 months of campaigning and has Clinton, Feinstein and the other powerhouses coming to his aid, not to mention the circus atmosphere of the other side, and his chances of turning it around in the 2 month is VERY good , IMO.

Davis is supposedly an excellent politician, and even Bustamante says he wants to defeat the recall.

13. Don't fall for the hype...
that's what they want you to think.

I'm on the ground here in CA. I looked at the recall signature totals by county and saw where the real support for the recall was -- the same types of places that put Bob Dornan in office, thats' where. They could muster but 15,000 or so votes in Sonoma County, a country with half a million population.

I have spoken with Dems/Greens/Independents and a few Republicans who are all saying the same thing: They will vote no on the recall.

This "everyone hates Davis and everyone wants him out of office" I am hearing in the media is just not what I am seeing on the ground.

This election is going to come down to who makes it to the polls. With Arnie's support of 187, Cruz's candidacy, and that new Ward Connelly-like race initiative on the same ballot, the GOP could be in store for a spanking.
