Franken's dittohead friend has gone over the edge.
He is agreeing with Limbaugh that it's Clinton's fault that some Iraqis were sexually humiliated by being forced to simulate oral sex with each other. Apparently, Clinton popularized oral sex and the troops got the idea for this particular form of abuse from the Lewinsky scandal.:eyes:The guy is DEAD SERIOUS.

I guess it's good, though. If Clinton gets remembered for only one of his many, many positive accomplishments, why not for inventing the BJ?

13. Apparently not.
According to dittohead the troops that are in Iraq right now were probably in their teens when the Lewinsky scandal broke and their "liberal" parents had to explain to them that the President had had oral sex and now the troops are simply applying what they learned. That seems to be his thinking--if you can call it that.

19. I don't think the BELIEVE anything. They just ACCEPT whatever they
are told by Limbaugh and their other masters. If they are told the reverse tomorrow, they will accept that. If you ask them what they really believe in, their little faces sort of screw up like a crumpled dishrag as they try to grasp what you are asking them, and wondering which implanted answer to regurgitate to that question.

20. Or I dare say...
...Franken is dumber than most liberals. Please don't flame me. I love Al Franken but it baffles me to no end that he can be friends with this man. I know that people with different political beliefs can be friends but Franken's and dittohead's differences seem to go beyond that. Mark Luther is just a fucking lunatic. He'd have to be to say and believe the things he does.

Every day, Mark admits to Al that he is wrong. EVERY DAY! I get the feeling that Mark is a pseudo-ditto and that the purpose of the bit is to poke fun at Rush and the rushbots by Mark pretending to be one.

I don't know for sure, but it's hard to believe that Al would be friends, not only with a dittohead, but one this moronic. I think it might be an act.

31. I don't think he's dumb,
but I think there are a few of things about the situation that make him seem that way:

1. He obviously prides himself on being open-minded and having coservative friends, even infamous ones like G. Gordon Liddy and Gary Bauer.

2. He's not always fast enough to jump on some of the inconsistencies Mark shows. I heard one last week that had me screaming at the radio, but Al let it pass. Sorry, I can't remember what it was. Example of that from today: "There are evil people who want to kill us because of who we are." Al just said, "Well, it's more complicated than that..." and let it pass. He should have expanded his thought rather than just concede the point.

3. The segment is ill-conceived. When dealing with Limbaugh, Al should be able to be vicious and go for the throat. He can't or won't do that with a longtime friend. I assume they have been friends since they were kids, and their relationship has nothing to do with politics.

I don't think good talk radio is easy to do, so I'm willing to give Al and AAR a break for a while.

And I don't flame people on DU.

(Gotta act ;ike I'm working again...)

41. Yes, Franken doesn't nail this guy to the wall...
...the way he should. A few weeks ago they were talking about the fact that there are so many poor folks in the military and Luther said, "So what?" "What difference does it make". I thought Franken would verbally kick the shit out of the guy but he sort of fumbled for words and then started reading from some report. Catherine Lampfer was nowhere to be found. Anyway, I think Franken just needs more time. Remember how stiff Conan O'Brian was when his show first started? Now he makes it look as easy as breathing.

that's right....liberals = unpatriotic, conservatives = morally superior

and thus it is ok for Rush to lie sometimes because he loves his country, people want to kill us for no reason, and all you unpatriotic liberals will do anything possible to defeat bush (note very sly position..i.e. feeds the stereotyping that liberals/democrats are unpatriotic etc.)

21. The deeper issue
The deeper issue that Rush and this dittohead idiot are ignoring is that these were not sexual acts they were molestation/degredation/TORTEROUS acts. Clinton did not force Monica to do anything. Clinton did not photograph the events to brag to his buddies. Clinton did not threaten other interns "You'd better do this or I'll sperm on your dress too".

These acts are of a henieious nature designed by the Bush CIA/Secret Miltary to humiliate these prisoners hoping to get them to talk. They weren't thought up by saying, "Hey you remember how that last president made his interns happy? Think we can do the same for the prisoners?"

29. here is proof in Time Magazine it wasn't "simulated"
Edited on Tue May-18-04 12:22 PM by Eric J in MN
http://www.time.com/time/covers/1101040517/story.html

Haider Sabbar Abed al-Abbadi kept his shame to himself until the world saw him stripped naked, his head in a hood, a nude fellow prisoner kneeling before him simulating oral sex. "That is me," he claims to a Time reporter, as one of the lurid photographs of detained Iraqis suffering sexual humiliation at the hands of U.S. soldiers scrolls down a computer screen. "I felt a mouth close around my penis. It was only when they took the bag off my head that I saw it was my friend." In the nine months he spent in detention, al-Abbadi says he was never charged and never interrogated. On that awful November night, four months after his arrest, he thought he and six other prisoners were being punished for a petty scuffle.

-----------
The reporter uses the term "simulating" but read the quote from the prisoner.

37. Sick little monkeys
I've thought for a long time -- and since I've started reading the Freepers for amusement, I'm more certain than ever -- that a big component of a particular kind of "conservatism" is a very immature view of sexuality. I think behind all of the "moral" objections to certain activities and combinations is just a squirmy kind of discomfort. I believe the technical term is "grossed out". And then these right wingnuts obsess on the very things you'd think they'd want to put out of their minds entirely.

Next time you see Lou Sheldon on TV, see how long it takes for him to steer the conversation toward the subject of anal sex. Pop over and read the Freepers' 4th-grade comments about the photo of Alexandra Kerry's dress at Cannes. They're like a bunch of snickering children.

As for the Clinton obsession, all I can say is "for fuck's sake shut up already".
