If we leave Iraq, will the same happen?
Somewhere in the range of 2 million people died in the anarchy and genocide after we left Vietnam, so if we leave Iraw, do you think more innocent people will die than if we stay? I'm starting to think that we may need to stay in order to save lives, as sad as that may seem.

1. I REALLY don't want us to stay.
But my basic reasons against this war, innocent Iraqis die, are also relevant in a situation in which the competing factions fight it out when we leave.

We're screwed.

2. No. It doesn't make any sense.

We can't possibly do any good there , especially now. Staying will increase the anger and violence not reduce it.

By the way, we killed over 2 million in Vietnam so that should give some perspective on who was worse for Vietnam.

3. Maybe just the opposite
A lot of Iraqis feel that if we leave their country, the violence will subside. They're glad that we got rid of Saddam, but now they want us out so they can rebuild their country by themselves.

4. The only problem with this argument...
...is that Iraq is *not* Vietnam. In Vietnam, we didn't have an Al Qaeda, waiting in the wings to use it as a base for god-only-knows what awful things.

I'm not necessarily saying that this implies that we should stay, but it's something to keep in mind when discussing this topic.
