Army Blocks Red Cross from Abu Ghraib investigation
Officer Says Army Tried to Curb Red Cross Visits to Prison in Iraq
By DOUGLAS JEHL and ERIC SCHMITT

Published: May 19, 2004

ASHINGTON, May 18 — Army officials in Iraq responded late last year to a Red Cross report of abuses at Abu Ghraib prison by trying to curtail the international agency's spot inspections of the prison, a senior Army officer who served in Iraq said Tuesday.

1. Remember the Palestinian journalist who stood outside
the prison last year? I believe he stood a ways outside the prison and was filming with a cam corder. A tank came barreling out of the prison and killed him. Afterwards, the US tried to defend itself by saying, "he looked dangerous". How right they were.

Of course, now we know why he was killed. They wanted to keep outsiders out and journalists far away while they tortured and maimed innocent cab drivers and pedestrians from Baghdad.

I bet the Red Cross gets to walk in now.
