a la Nick Berg - Where was the freeper outrage
when the US girl got run over by the bulldozer while protesting?

Oh, she was in a place where she shouldn't have been.

1. No outrage, just a lot of insulting and name calling.
Rachel Corrie was "stupid," etc. etc. Those freepers......always taking the high road, dontcha know!

3. It's the Minutemen, circa 1985.
Got it from Mike Watt's Hoot Page.

D. Boon was my hero growing up. Such an inspirational figure to me, as a guitar player, as a political creature, as a do-it-yourselfer, as a working class fat kid growing up feeling alienated and angry, he told me what I could do with that alienation and anger. Plus, he was a hell of a guitarist.

11. yeah, I recognized them
wondered what the image George is holding was. D. was cool. I had the pleasure of seeing them about 12 days or so before his death - they opened for R.E.M. and I was blown away.

15. You're very lucky.

I was 10 when D. Boon died...saw fIREHOSE, but although the musicianship was still amazing, for me, D. Boon was the heart of the Minutemen.

And Watt is holding the picture, not George. The picture is their then-new promo pic, taken in a bowling alley, with Watt about to roll one down the lane.

16. right you are
about seeing them and of course the pic holder. I didn't refer back to the pic when posting and mainly just spotted D. in the orig pic. That hair of georgeous George.

Saw firehose a couple of times - good, but missed the spark from D. Huge loss.

4. Outrage? They joke about it to this day
Her getting crushed by an Israeli killdozer is the height of hilarity for freepers.

Any post about it is filled with photoshops or pictures "comically" showing a bulldozer crushing somebody.

If it wasn't illegal, I'd beat up freepers for sport.

6. You can hear that trash on DU from our "tame freepers"
Almost like real freepers. But they've been fixed, so they don't do too much damage.

7. I heard, but I hope it's not true
that freepers were planning on mailing toy bulldozers to Rachel Corrie's parents on the one-year anniversary of her death.

When I read that I had to convince myself that they were just showing off their lack of humanity to each other and that their hatred would not result in actually carrying out such a sick and depraved act.

9. I'm sure they would actually do it
Idle talk is not what the Nazis at freerepublic do, they're crazy enough to follow through.

13. Anonymously, of course
I had forgotten how "brave" freeps get when they can do something hateful anonymously. x(

I don't know how DUers go over to FR at all. Even if I read one thread a year, its nastiness sticks with me at least that long.

12. You're deluding yourself.
These people are truly assholes. You can bet your ass the Corrie family received 'gifts' from the freepers. You can also bet your ass that Michael Berg is getting something similar.
