"I'm 50% immune to Land Mines Now"
CNN just interviewed an Army soldier going back to Iraq for a second tour. The above was his response when asked if he had any reservations about going back into combat with an artificial leg after being injured during his first tour.

This is just warped...

1. They are sending back one legged soldiers?

And this isn't raising any red flags to these conservative hawks on how the war is going?

What planet do these people live on?

2. I think he petitioned
to return. I don't think DoD or the Army had any intention of sending him anywhere.

9. The Chimp reckoned: if Iraq is an ass-kicking contest
...he should send some one-legged troops over there and try to prove the aphorism.

3. If he left a leg there he's entitled to all the gallows humor he wants...
...he's earned that at a minimum.

Now if we can just get him some decent armor, food and veterans benefits....oh yeah, wrong President.

4. I don't hold anything against the guys who can't leave their buddies. I
saw an interview. He doesn't want to go back to 'go back'. He can't leave his unit. Its about guilt, my friends. There are three amputees in my family and that was no small loss. But for now, and a little while longer, the greater injury is inside, unseen. He's a nice kid, this one.

6. I knew some Vietnam vets...
who went back for the same reason. One guy did three tours.

Some just couldn't handle being safely tucked away in Germany or the States while the rest of the unit was still staring at the mouth of hell.

Some others, though, found they liked the adrenaline rush of war just a bit too much.

5. A valid point...
...but I was referring to the point he would even want to go back. If it were me, I could care less about the comraderie or anything else. I would be home if I had donated a body part for the cause. That is just me though.
