5. Dennis Kucinich sometimes sounds like a serious Bill Hicks
I was listening to a CD of Dennis' greatest hits last night, and that did occur to me.

12. Hicks Would Eat Dennis For Lunch
Edited on Wed May-19-04 04:23 PM by Crisco
Although they would agree on many things, their ways of confronting them were quite different.

I can just see it:

DK: How can you *joke* about something like this?
BH: Joking? Fuck you! I'm serious.

7. Hicks rocks and rules!
I don't normally buy comedy albums. They get old pretty fast. But I've got a couple of Bill's and they're as fresh today as they were in the '90s. Yesterday, I went to a Hicks site just to read a transcript of one of his shows. His words alone had me laughing out loud. How I wish he was still here to comment on all this madness. Boy, did he go too young or what?

"'What you readin' for?'"
"Not 'What ARE you readin'?' What you readin' FOR?'!"

bill hicks was one of the best. over the years i have really gained a lot of respect for "comedians" and their craft. they have the ability to address people uniterrupted and make hilarious observations that are only funny because they are abusrd and true. you can really reach people through comedy, it doesn't put them on the defensive, it makes them laugh at the sillyness and then maybe later think about the serious implications of such sillyness/absurdity. i wish i could put into words what i am trying to say......

bill hicks would have a field day with the administration we have now. you can actually go back and listen to his stuff about bush Sr. and desert storm and it seems very relevant, he also did a very very funny and sick bit about limbaugh and other pundits.

RIP bill hicks. definetely in my eyes a hero and and a great and insightful human being. we miss you.
