Very,very depressed
Since I'm on this board I feel depressed more and more and I do want to know, why you people are so unsure, that J. Kerry or the Democrats will win.
From where does this negativism coming from?

I'm very badly scared from FR, fought them badly over years(never got banned, but flamed badly.) I thought I have to fight them from the inside -- and I did.
Now finding my "home" here, I find mostly whining people, very few fighting people.......... are you folks really not sure that Kerry will win?????????????

And BTW it's not about Kerry winning, it's about BUSH OUT OF OFFIVE!

This Nation needs to be able to heal very soon, Europe is waiting for a change!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. Sing this song with me...
Police and thieves in the street....
oh yeah
scaring the nation with their guns and ammunition

Police and thieves in the street....
oh yeah
fighting the nation with their guns and ammunition

From Genesis to Revelation
the next generation
will be, hear me

From Genesis to Revelation
the next generation
will be, hear me

And all the crowd come in
Day by Day
Noone stops it
in any way

All the peace makers
Third World officers
Hear what I say...hey hey hey hey hey hey!

4. Our battles are waged with knowledge and cunning.
We aren't violent and mostly insane like many people on those other sites. The repubs have cornered the market on mean and vicious... we prefer to channel our anger in productive ways.

I think, if you sense a vibe of uncertainty about Kerry winning, it's more because we were burned so badly in 2000, that it's hard to be cocky.. we can't be complacent here... that's all.

9. Because we have yet to see the worst of the Repub attack machine
Bush has had the worst six months of his presidency to start this year, and we're only up by 5 points in the polls.

Yes, Bush has blown a ton of his campaign money, but he'll get more. He has a virtually unlimited money supply.

Bush will pull out every dirty trick in the book to win. In 2000, Bush was up by about 5 points in the polls the weekend before the election, explaining why Bush's team took it for granted those last three days that he was going to win.

I fear that what happened to Max Cleland in Georgia in 2002 will look like a civilized political debate compared to the crap Bush will try to pull in the last days of this election.

I hope we will win, but it is by no means inevitable.

11. How Bush Dissed McCain is Disgraceful
Bush and his Bushies lied and personally attacked McCain and his family after New Hampshire. I'd trust Bush as if he were a snake slithering out from his rock.

14. Exactly
The worst problem is that the Repubs virtually control the media, which lets Bush off the hook when he makes outrageous attacks, saying "It's just politics."

I really fear that in the last days of the campaign, some REALLY shady 527, PAC, or some other "interest group" will run ads totally smearing Kerry, giving him little or no time to respond, and possibly costing us the election.

And of course if they are close behind their will be more covert actions, such as push polls, voter purges, voter intimidation, etc.

28. Kerry Will Have A Tough Time Because Bush Can't Afford To Lose
Think about it. Bush and Co. cannot afford to lose. Not only have Bush and Co. lead the nation into war based on lies for the benefit of oil industry, cynically used September 11th as a justification for giving tax cuts to the richest Americans, etc., but Bush and company are potentially on the hook for war crimes. As the Albert Gonzales memo shows, the Bush administration is well aware of its criminal exposure.

So, let me ask you all this, isn't there a disconnect to assume that a person willing to engage in or authorize such heinous acts, would be willing to simply shrug his shoulders in the event that it appeared that he might lose the election? Can Bush risk a democratic White House or Congress? I think the answer is no. For those of you who don't think so, you are putting a lot of unrealistic faith in the basic deceny of man and administration that we routinely criticize on this board.

12. Actually the conventional wisdom was that if Kerry could withstand
the first few months of body blows from Bush after sealing the deal for the nomination, he would be just fine. I think he has a long way to go but he's withstood everything they threw at him and more since Super Tuesday.

I'm not overly optimistic nor pessimistic....but I think he is doing well...in numbers and in campaigning on the ground. Between him and his family, he is making a presence in more states than simply the presumed battleground states.

20. They haven't thrown anything serious at Kerry yet
They'll save the really serious attacks for after the conventions. Even then they'll save their REALLY vicious attacks to be done by "third-party" groups that are really shadow campaign organizations, like the one that ran the Willie Horton ad against Dukakis.

15. a very intelligent answer to my question
I just want to tell all of you, spread everything you can to people near to you.

I learned today, that friends don't talk about politics anymore, because they fear to loose friends.................

That was exactly the way in the 1930th in Germany, nobody was brave enough to say what they think............be aware America, when you can't say anymore what you think..........you are on the wrong road.

if for no other reason than your admitted long term connection to "FR", you are more than welcome, IMHO, to voice a concern or opinion like this. A fear of 4 more years of bush is a legitimate fear any way you slice it.

17. No Bongos & Cigars...Sorry!
I guess you must have just landed here, since I feel the mood on this board has never been more upbeat in many ways. There are a lot of us here that feel very vindicated these days...I know it's reaffirmed my convictions the importance of truth, honesty and integrity over self-interest and selfishness.

Unfortunately, this vindication has come at the needless cost of hundreds of American soldiers, thousands of Iraqis (most guilty of being born in the wrong country at the wrong time), financial ruin for endless millions and a polarized body politic the likes this country has never seen. The damage this regime has done in 3 years will take a decade to clear up.

I see impatience here...and I can understand it. I can't wait for any chance to show my contempt for this regime. Also many...mostly, younger folks, want Kerry to climb in the mud with the swill...I think the high road is our only road out of this current mess.

Is Kerry my ideal Progressive? Not even close. But compared to the assholes in our White House, he's a vast improvement and that our common causes...and those of a majority of Americans...outweigh philosophical differences or my special interest desires.

We have no clue how deep the damage this regime has done to our government, and assuredly a Kerry administration would have to spend the better part of a first term just fighting fires and fixing the damage this current regime has perpetrated. I sure hope my fellow Democrats see how daunting the job ahead really is.

I feel as confident now of Kerry's chances as I ever have and alternate between feelings of 1992 more and more. A lot of the crapola tossed at Kerry right now is media driven as there's this hard-on to build-up and tear down (they spent the first two months of the year building JK up in the primaries) and once he's down, they'll build him up and knock him down again. Just watch. The same goes for Bunnypants (we just don't notice it...but the manchild's caught his major share of shit for the past 3 months).

If you're depressed people aren't claiming victory or measuring drapes in the Oval Office...sorry...life's a bitch, then you work for Repugnicans.
