Bush*, Saddam and their supporters: cut from the same cloth?
- Supporters of both of these 'men' looked the other way as their 'leader' and hero did anything to gain and stay in power. Both are/were dictators who didn't tolerate dissent of any kind and demanded loyalty under threat of character assassination or being labeled an 'enemy of the state'. Neither Bush* or Saddam supporters cared that their great leaders had to lie, cheat and steal to obtain power. They call this decisive and strong leadership. Both were installed in office outside of the democratic process...using nationalism, fear, intimidation and vote rigging.

- Bush* and Saddam consider their enemies (those who threaten their power) as 'subhuman' and think of innocents caught up in their violence and wars as collateral damage and objects 'without souls'. Both will kill an untold number of innocents rather than look weak or lose power. Both use children as props for political propaganda...but won't shed a tear or lose a second of sleep when those same children become homeless, lose a limb or are killed in their wars. Both will send their people to kill and die in their name...but hide in bunkers and spider holes when they find themselves in harm's way.

- Americans were upset at the idea of 'mass graves' in Iraq...victims of Saddam's brutal dictatorship. Yet Bush's* indiscriminate bombing and torture has maimed and killed thousands upon thousands of Iraqis and other citizens of the ME who had nothing to do with 9-11 or terrorism. They were fathers, mothers and children...farmers, grocers, merchants...the same type of people you'd find on the streets and neighborhoods of any American city. They are now in mass graves...just as dead as those buried by Saddam's inhumanity.

- Saddam was a brutal dictator who held onto power by not allowing anyone who disagreed with him to attain any kind of power or voice in his government. Bush* is a 'compassionate conservative' who holds onto power by not allowing anyone who disagrees with him to attain any kind of power or voice in his government. Saddam was responsible for the murder of thousands...not caring if innocents were killed along with the enemy. Bush* is responsible for the death of thousands...not caring if innocents are killed along with the 'enemy'.

- What's the difference between Bush*, Saddam and their supporters? Only God can answer that question.

2. same personality types
yes, your are correct, they are very similar. Put Bush into Saddam's place and you'd have the exact same outcome. Put Saddam into Bush's place, with the limits on the office of the president, and you'd have a guy who would be doing everything in his power to undermine those limits, to use fear and war to silence and try to discredit opponents, who'd be chipping away at civil rights.

The big difference might be that Saddam was very opposed to the theocrats while Bush is doing all in his power to turn the US into a theocracy. But maybe if Saddam were here and saw he could mobilize a large group of blindly obedient sheep ...

3. funny you should mention that
I never thought about the similarities between Bush and Saddam, but I've long noticed the similarities between Bush's supporters and the Arab supporters of the "terrah-ists." I totally agree that they have the same personality types.

When the Abu Ghraib scandal broke, all these wingnuts were justifying our torturing of Iraqi prisoners ("they're terrorists," "where were you liberals when Saddam was doing the same thing", "after what they did to Nick Berg and the four contractors in Fallujah"). The first thing I thought was that these people were no different from Palestinians who justify suicide bombing attacks on Israeli civilians by saying "well, the IDF demolishes our homes and kills civilians in raids on Hamas."

I don't have the slightest doubt that if most Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity listeners had been born Palestinian instead of American, they'd be sending suicide bombers to blow up Israeli schoolchildren in city buses in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
