NewsMax is misquoting Dean on Hannity last night. Transcript, anyone?
I have it taped and will check. Can't find how to get the transcript, but I do know Hannity's show does transcripts.

I won't link to NewsMax, but here is a quote:

SNIP..."Dean Hints at Iraq Pull Out Under Kerry

Presidential candidate-turned-John Kerry booster Howard Dean suggested Wednesday night that if Democrats win the White House in November, Kerry will pull U.S. troops out of Iraq.

"If John Kerry becomes president, which I have every intention of helping him do, he's going to someday make the tough decision about whether the troops are brought back," Dean told Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes."

Dean hinted at the pullout moments after criticizing the Iraq war as illegitimate."END SNIP

This is so not true about what he said, and they just are twisting things again. This is just ridiculous.

1. They always distort what he says and the mainstream media
will then pick it up and report it too. Then they will try to get Kerry to repudiate what Dean supposedly "said" which is NOT even what he really did say.

It is certainly not the first time it has happened.

4. I would like to see...
...just once... when Kerry is asked a leading question by a RW-type using out of context quotes or an outright mischaracterization of a quote from, say, Dean, I would like to see Kerry say "if you can give me a verified transcript of the cconversation from which that comment is supposably pulled from I will be happy to comment".

Would the rightards scream? Of course! Could we counter with example? Yup. It could change the whole tenor of their attack style using lies cloaked as "quotes".

2. How's that quote offensive?
Sooner or later the troops WILL have to be brought home. We can't stay there forever.

5. The quote is offensive because it is not true.
Media has to quit making things up.

6. The Fox transcripts cost money to limit their dispersal.
Why else? They lie, and they don't want to have to admit it.

8. Just listened to tape. He referred to Iraq as a quagmire.
Not once did he say anything about pulling troops out that I can hear. Nor did he hint. They just made this stuff up.

Also the transcript to the Anderson Cooper section.

Unfortunately, someone just said that is only 1/2 the interview. Wonder why not post all of it? They left out when Dean said the show would have to be called the Hannity and Dean show as Holmes did not speak out enough for liberals. It was just as it ended with no chance for Holmes to respond. Dean grinned as he said it.
