I am Outraged by the Lack of Outrage!
A vast number of the American people are not only ignorant they are stubborn and stupid and wishy-washy with no true conviction or ideology. How else do you explain a 90% approval rating for bush after 9/11. Give me a break - people don't know what to think unless they're told what to think. They don't read newspapers anymore - they are spoon fed dirt bag political commercials that should be as effective as a tablespoon of placebo. The dumbing down of America has been a long time coming and we can see it in every aspect of society. To think that those insipid commercials could have any affect at all is just horrifying!! But the sad fact is - they do.

I remember asking a bush supporter why she was supporting bush. "Because of his strong leadership" she replied. So I asked her what was strong about it and she hemmed and hawed and she couldn't answer a simple question like that. She was told that bush was a strong leader and she let it be her truth even though she had no idea why she thought the way she did. I think we should all grab a video camera and go out on the street and interview every bush supporter and ask them why they support bush. After they give their pat answer call them on it and see how many actually KNOW why they are supporting this complete failure . . .

They can't think for themselves so they have the talking heads think for them. They are passive and indolent and most couldn't care less about politics. They don't look beyond 10 feet in front of them and 24 hours ahead of them. They don't know what mercury poisoning is or what a deficit means. They drive their Chevy Suburbans and Ford Excursions burning up fossil fuel like there's no tomorrow. They don't recycle they don't read. They watch "reality" TV and munch on Cheetos. Fox is their news source and the American flag is their symbol for blind patriotism - they stick in on their car but don't know what it really represents. They think might is right and lies are justifiable. They believe Saddam was involved with 9/11 and war is good for the economy.

They don't think about who is going to pay the $1.4 billion dollars a week this war is costing us. They just want their $38 dollar tax cut.

They believe in a God that is white, Protestant, male and American who is on our side and only our side.

How in God’s name can a Republican party that represents only 2% of the country get 50% of the vote? How do they manage to keep the wool pulled over these poor people’s eyes?

Americans are torturing prisoners, bombing wedding parties, raping innocent Iraqis.

This administration is destroying our country – not little by little – but with huge gaping gashes that drain away our moral clarity and our optimistic blood.

We have become desensitized to the violence and atrocities that are happening on a daily basis. And it’s not just in the war; it’s in our cities and on our streets.

It is time for all Americans to wake up and start protesting. The evil of inaction cannot continue.

1. So maybe I live on the grassy knoll
But I have come to suspect all their polls -- and everything put out by the media, which has been infiltrated by the CIA since the early 50's (I came across this while doing research for a paper on radio).

They are not to be trusted. There is a secret government. They are capable of stealing elections (come on, Max Cleland gets beat by Saxby Chambliss all of a sudden?).

The only thing I can hope is that the OUTRAGEOUS lies of the current administration and the atrocities committed IN BROAD DAYLIGHT will finally shatter the cognitive dissonance of the American public. I think there are little doubts cropping up in the minds of the deluded, and soon they will become too noisy to ignore.

In the meantime, we have to keep COUNTERING.

God, I hate these bastards.

3. Tell me about it
Yesterday, a coworker of mine who admitted he's a "neocon", didn't even know about the PNAC. This morning, I asked him what he thinks for the US turning on Chalebi...and he didn't know who Chalebi is.

He has no credibility, but he's 100% he's on the right side.

6. That's a great idea!!
Get the average bush supporter to say on video why they support bush. After they give some vague answer start asking them the tough questions and watch them stumble. . . Jon Stewart where are you?

7. Until THEY are the ones beaten by a police baton or hit w/ rubber
bullets for speaking their mind, or until a family member of theirs is killed & that killing is swept under the rug.....they will NOT come around.

I live among many of those people. The DRAFT MIGHT open some eyes -- in fact, a great many more than now. But "the masses"? Not until they're hit over the head w/ a 2 x 4 are they going to feel the truth. They can't KNOW stuff -- they have to FEEL it done to them.

8. I've always thought it interesting . . .
...that we claim we value individualism, but we really don't. Conformity is what we value. Partner that with hefty doses of ignorance & selfishness & you've got the Bushite faction.

More & more I agree with Jeanne Garofalo's statement that anyone who votes for Bush has a major character flaw.
