suggesting that negative images from Iraq were having a negative psychological impact on the US economy. Weird! But it looks like the remarks were meant only for the business community.
Apparently, that's not what he said on Capitol Hill today:
Bush discusses Iraq, economy with congressional Republicans
President Bush, eager to smooth relations with disgruntled Republicans in Congress, made a rare visit to Capitol Hill on Thursday and assured GOP lawmakers that his plan for a transition to self-rule in Iraq was on track and that the U.S. economy was on the mend.
Lawmakers said the president engaged in the equivalent of political pep rally, discussing unemployment, education, energy, tax cuts, next month's partial transfer of power in Iraq and other topics for about 40 minutes but taking no questions.

President Discusses Iraq, Economy, Gas Prices in Cabinet Meeting
Remarks by the President After Cabinet Meeting
All in all, we're upbeat about the spread of freedom and peace and the ability for our fellow citizens to find work.
