1. It is so sad also.
Chimp can't even get six words out semi coherently without TelePrompters and backup TelePrompters, even at that the speech has to be dumbed down to a third grade level.

5. The Big Dog's been there and got the T-shirt!
:)

Only saw the end, but love hearing the gems pop out from his stem-winders.

The Man.

7. He and Dole always got along
Little known story about the 96 campaign. On the night of the election Dole called and spoke with Clinton for over an hour. HAve you ever seen them speak together? Great stuff.

8. I love him........
and miss him. Can you imagine having a brilliant man like him NOW? How much better off we'd all be. Instead we have this idiot monkey who can't complete a sentence without having a mic in his ear. What did we do to deserve him?

9. Was there in person and it was great
Let's see, 16,000 Clinton supporters in an unairconditioned arena in the middle of Kansas yelling our head offs...yeah, it was fun. Who knew there were so many Clinton fans in Kansas?

One of the things I like best about President Clinton is his ability to take an extremely complex idea...like say interdependent internationalism...and break it down and explain it so most people can understand. I love that he has faith and confidence in the American people that we can take big ideas and incorporate them into our everyday lives. I like that he doesn't feel like he has to talk to us in sound-bite phrases and beer-buddy jingos.

I think one of his most thought-provoking statements were the ones concerning how even though we are the world's superpower, we still have to make deals. Even though it's hard to make deals because basically as the world's superpower, you can do anything you want and in every deal you are basically giving something up that you still have to make deals. Because you can't rely on always being the world's superpower.

He didn't say it but the same goes for political parties in power in Washington. The problem with the current Republicans in Congress is that they've forgotten that they will not always be the 'superpower' in Washington DC. They are so blinded with what they perceive as their never ending majority that they've forgotten that the majority party has to make deals with the minority party because there's no guarantee that the majority party will continue to be the Congressional superpower. (I love how Clinton makes you think about things.)

He did a good job at taking a few sideswipes at Bush and his policies without directly attacking him. But as the Dole Institute is dedicated in part to bringing the civility back to politics, he couldn't really bash Bush outright. But then Clinton never was one to just bash. He's more the master of completely disassembling his opponent's message, not his opponent. God I hope he actively campaigns for Kerry....

A question: Did they show Dole's introduction on C-span? Just curious as it was great. Clinton really is his straight man!

Anyway, so glad I got to go. Even though Dole has not always been my favorite Kansan, a big shout out to Bob Dole for bringing President Clinton to speak at the inauguration of his institute. No way I would ever be able to see President Clinton speak in person for FREE if Dole hadn't invited him. And a big shout out to President Clinton and his staff for insisting that the venue be changed from a 2000 seated venue to 16,000 seated one. And last of all, a big shout out to all the people that showed up to sweat and listen and applaud. It was a great day to be a Kansan!
