Do you believe global warming is behind Europe's heat wave, or is it a natural, if rare, phenomenon?

1. I keep wondering if it could also be related to munitions in Iraq
What did they drop over there? Could it have an effect? Totally ignorant on this, just wondering. Anyone? I'm thinking of Mt. St. Helens sorts of effects.

5. No. Possible local effects, but nothing approaching global
St Helens was a totally different story:

Total Energy Release during 1980 = 1.9x1018 Joules
= 450 megatons
= 27,000 Hiroshima bombs (1 per second for 9 hours)

9. Not hardly.....
The more likely cause is the variable output from our own sun...plus natural variations such as the North Atlantic Oscillation...

4. the actual warming of global warming isn't the problem
It's the way the warming affects climate patterns and makes weather more erratic.

6. Climate patterns have changed. Ask anyone in the US over 40.....we know..
The sad part is....anyone growing up today would think this is normal. That's how they will get away with it.

As the older folks who know what was normal for Spring, Summer, Winter, Fall.....who grew up in rural communities not cites die off....they you can tell anyone anything is normal and they wil believe it...because they don't know anything different.

It's very sad....but climate is changing here in the US which is what I know about. I think it's the thinning and destruction of our rainforest in South America and around the world. It's created tunnels where winds weren't meant to blow and trees aren't doing the work of holding the soil and creating a canopy...so the climate changes to accomodate. Plus who knows what the fossil fue ramp ups in China, Indonesia and other countries are doing and the bombs dropping in Afghanistan and Iraq.....what goes around the world comes around to us all. Our planet is quite fragile.....and when it get's out of balance all kinds of changes occurr.

But, no one's going to talk about this with the "squatters" in the WH.....Everyone's been told to "shut up."

8. Ignorant
This is just another example of playing to the people's lack of understanding what global warming is. You can't point to one short-lived event and say that proof for or against global warming. Global warming is about climate occuring over many years. Unfortunately this doesn't make a good news story, and people have short attention spans.
