So, does Chalabi have Top Secret Clearance?
And, if so, why? If not, why does he know things that "could get Americans killed?" Who gave him information that would be useful to a foreign government? I'm confused.

1. I am no Chalabi lover, but that is an awfully vague term

"things that "could get Americans killed?" "

That is why I am somewhat suspicious of BFEE turning on Chalabi, and feel they are mostly just looking for a scapegoat.

On edit - "fall guy" might be a better term. And, they get to incite the American population against Iran in the bargain (or try to, which may not be too hard if I remember the tone of 1980).

4. They're fanning the flames of hatred
And making Chalabi into the new leader of Iraq - he has to appear to be against the "Americans" and he's claiming the mantle of "us" on behalf of the Iraqi people. I don't think even the Shiite leadership is going to go along with Chalabi claiming to be an Iraqi after having the US's dilso up his ass for so long.

Apparently the BFEE think this will work.

5. Agreed...This is a contrived animosity.
Chalabi and the Bushies are in a deeply loving, mutually satisfying relationship. This is just a ploy to exploit the anti-americanism in Iraq.

2. As a foreign national...
... without a green card, I don't think he could obtain clearance.

He knows what he knows because of his own intelligence operatives, paid from government funds, and, possibly, because he was being fed US-derived intelligence in the hopes that such information would solidify his position in Iraq.

Who in government provided him that US intelligence is quite another question....

6. Yeah, but he's a convicted felon.
With the republicans, that entitles you to at least a radio show or a diplomatic post. If you tell them what they want to hear they also, evidentally, give you the keys to the castle.

7. And 340k per month to boot!
I wish I had known... But, seriously, I have a feeling Mr. Chalabi is not long for the world. I just want to know why he had our secrets to tell and who gave them to him.
