Ben Stein on CBS Sunday Morning
He's showing his Nixonian roots. Apologizing for the Abu Ghraib prison abuse. Saying we're the "good guys" and that we've "saved Iraq" from a dictator a billion times worse that "the frat-boy" hazing at the Abu Ghraib prison.

1. He is One issue guy/abortion
Heard an interview with him. Says he would never vote for a pro-choice candidate. He is Bush all the way. I ignore him.

4. He makes me sick, I used to watch Win Ben Stein's Money until I heard him
him say some pretty slimy sexist things on E! I haven't liked him since. Then I found out that he was a Bush supporter and repug that worked for Nixon. He is a stupid asshole.

15. Sheesh, yes, I used to love the guy. For awhile I was able to separate
his politics from his deadpan schtick. But it got harder and harder to do that. I wish he'd just stick to satire. His politics absolutely suck.

6. Murder and torture. The pic of the guy with his eyes poked out is not
in the slightest mere "hazing". Not in the "freedoming" slightest.

Murder. Vigilanteism. Unevolved and unethical behavior.

Why American citizens haven't stood united over this is beyond me. As I've said, our own troops made live that much worse for themselves (perhaps mortally so, revenge is part of the human condition) and ultimately for the rest of us if the rest of the world gets creative and unconventional in punishing us for our desire to leave the world community (boycotts, dumping the dollar in favor of the Euro, pulling out of investments- the Saudis alone have over $1 TRILLION invested, so that's why I disagree that they sent 15 of their own to cause 9/11. Pulling out the money would have done far more harm to the US.). Those responsible for the atrocities are nothing less than traitors because of the grand scale of it all.

13. "The pic of the guy with his eyes poked out"
I seem to have missed this one. Link?

I'm not challenging you, just had not heard of nor seen any pictures of this particular atrocity.

3. The guy is a short-sighted lunatic with no sense of humor.
Doesn't this "freedomer" understand? US troops, by doing what they did (and starting from the very day they raised US flags all over the place in a country they claimed to be liberating and not conquering and ending with atrocious human rights violations, not to mention the unevolved incivility of it all) have put themselves in danger, their fellow troops in danger, and the US reputation down the toilet and right into the cesspool.

Don't these goddamn fucking repukes understand this basic premise?! Forget the coy censoring, I'm outraged by what has happened over the course of the 14 months and everybody the US is going to pay THANKS TO BOY-KING GEORGE. Can't people understand this?! ARGH!

Bush* had no plan. He wanted revenge and he wanted to bomb. There was no intent of 'liberation' until some civilian started printing up big post cards with the term and that's when * started using the phrase.

Saddam was terrible. But our own actions may have well created a situation far worse and far more encompassing. Only time will tell how the US is going to pay the price for its unethical and utterly devolved behavior. And I don't mean the monetary cost either.

8. Their moral relativism is disingenuous at best ..
On the other end of the scale it aids and abets the cover-ups of a series of horrendous war crimes, of which (I fear) Abu Ghraib is but a drop in the bucket.

9. more GOP puke factor ... he also donated to Nader (see below)
http://www.commondreams.org/headlines04/0327-05.htm

<snip>
Among the new crop of Nader donors: actor and former Nixon speechwriter Ben Stein, Florida frozen-food magnate Jeno Paulucci and Pennsylvania oil company executive Terrence Jacobs. All have strong ties to the GOP.

11. Took My Morning Shower During Hannity.......
....unfortunately, I caught Stein's nauseating little segment on the prison abuses.

You know, conservatives are always eager to criticize liberals for moral relativism. And yet here they go, stating that as long as our torture practices are a wee bit less severe than the prior regime's, we're still the Shining Beacon of Justice and Truth for the planet.

Absolutely stomach-turning.....

12. Ben Stein's litany of campaign donations
I find the Nader ones particularly odd (read: sleazy).

http://www.newsmeat.com/fec/bystate_detail.php?st=CA&last=Stein&first=Benjamin

I don't get it with these weirdos. I'd love to see Bush go down, yet I'd never consider donating to some crazy asshole like Roy Moore or David Duke in the hope that it might take a percentage point away from *.

14. I had dealings with Ben Stein in one of his vacation places.
He's a jerk and treats the people who have to work for him and wait on him like dogs. I don't like the guy at all and I would never watch one of his shows.
