Has anybody here had any experience with this fun group? ProtestWarriors.

www.protestwarrior.com

It appears that member of this fun group, along with a few others have decided it is time to shut down the weekly Dallas Halliburton protest.

Anyone run into them anyplace else?

11. "Warrior" must have a new meaning.
Now it means chubby RW chickenhawk who lives in his parent's basement and jacks off to FreeRepublic and Newsmax while listening to Rush.

4. I ran into them at
the last anti-war protest in Hollywood. They use inflammatory signs and try to mingle with the anti-war crowd to make them look stupid. At this protest they were kept separate, and surrounded by security. I talked to one of the guys and asked him if they'd have a problem if I showed up at the next pro-war/Bush rally carrying a sign that said "Pres. Bush, thank you for killing the Muslims" and "When can you start killing Democrats". He said it's a free country. Now I just have to find someone to come with me.

10. I think I remember them
right before the march began, they ran up to the front, with big signs showing slogans like, "No war is ever good--unless a Democrat starts it" or some such horseshit.

Did you catch the guy in the cowboy hat and Superman outfit, with a tattered-ass flag as a cape, spouting his right-wing crap?

13. Yes, what was he about?
And that older guy with the megaphone who kept yelling biblical verses? The guy in the cowboy hat with the flag was a freeper -- his sign said freerepublic.com. Later I saw him and he had taken his shirt off. Ack.

14. Yeah, that one corner, right at the beginning of the route, was
Freeper central. The fatassed geezer spouting Biblical verses was a real piece of work. Unfortunately, it seemed like a lot of media cameras wanted to give him face time. Whenever one of them put the camera on him, though, I did my best to sidle right up next to him and yell things like, "Jesus says kill!" in a sort of black ops discrediting campaign.

5. I always wonder how these clowns
manage to find protesters against the war who actually want our soldiers to die.

I've been following the DU boards for nearly 2 years and do not recall ever seeing this sentiment here.

It's kind of like Rush Hannity or some such idiot explaining how liberals think. Do they actually bother to find out?

I really find it ludicrous that somebody would volunteer their time to try to insure that somebody else makes their bloodmoney. Talk about useful idiots.

Edited on Sun May-23-04 05:32 PM by bluestateguy
Even if I disagree with right wing war hawks, I respect those who at least put their money where their mouth is, like Pat Tillman. It's really easy to sound like a big manly tough guy when all you are doing is confronting peaceful protestors and printing bumper stickers.

12. They do appear to be what you say. Carrollton's finest "could not" run
them off. Free speech and all don't you know.

In reading through their thread on the "other Dallas protest" they appear to be well-funded. They offer to pay for transportation to anyone that wants to come for the "counter-protest" this upcoming week for Exxon-Mobile shareholder meeting at the Meyerson in Dallas. Frightening bunch of folk if you ask me.

They all also appear to have a great deal of respect and devotion to our favorite "TalkRadio" propagandists.

17. Kick
I am a Dallas-area DUer. I was at the Crawford thing in March.

I checked out their website. Do they not realize the irony of protesting because they are upset about OTHER PEOPLE PROTESTING???

BWA! Helloooooo, McFly?????

Anywho, I read that whole damn thread that guy posted about how riled up he is about the Halliburton protests. It's um, 30 to 40 people once a week? And he's THAT upset over it?

He really needs to think about this---he made this ludicrous argument that Al-Jazeera could SHOW FOOTAGE of this (gasp) and instigate Iraqis to kill soldiers in Iraq.

Um, first of all, I really don't think we need much more than the bush administration to get us new enemies each day. Bush/Rummy et al have done more than anyone else to paint targets on the soldiers' backs, why isn't he pissed off at them? Oh wait, nevermind. Not allowed.

My husband is former Army, active duty for 12 years. Vet of Desert Storm. He would vehemently disagree with this guy that these protests put soldiers at risk. Geez, are they so ill-equipped and ill-trained and unarmed that a protest of 30 to 40 people in a suburb of Dallas thousands of miles away would put them in mortal danger?

This guy doesn't think much of the military, I think.

idiots.

I got invited there by a conservative acquaintance, claiming it was "A free board, unlike DU."

I was denounced for my religion and age, and called a troll.

Yeah, it's a free board alright.

It's just like fuckin' FreeRepublic.

28. who cares about them?
as a Vietnam War protester, I can tell you there are always counter-protesters--at a fraction of the size of the protesters. All along the march routes in DC during the VW protests, and at the street corners, would be one or a very few redneck-looking meatheads who looked grim and angry, who often screamed obscenities at the marchers. The pictures of the Dallas protests show 2 counter-protesters--big freepin deal. How can they "shut you down"?? Just protest--you are on the side of righteousness so ignore them.

29. Protest Worriers...
The Protest worriers see these protests against the war in Iraq getting larger and larger and begin worrying that their neoconservative plans might get unraveled, and Iraq just might be left to be run by the Iraqi people.

I ran into some of them at the March 20th march against the war in Iraq in New York City, I have a photo of one of them here:

http://nyc.indymedia.org/newswire/display_any/89584

This guy has a beard, is wearing a cowboy hat, a shirt with a picture of a bare-chested guy with a sword that says Protest Worrier under it, a crucifix (outside the shirt not inside it), and an American flag pin on his suit jacket next to another pin I can't quite see in my picture. He also has a crazed look in his eyes. I actually took 23 pictures of the various Protest Worriers that day, but only put that 1 picture up on the web.
