Todays "Breaking" news"there might be an attack sometime in the future"
This was "breaking news" today. There once again was nothing specific. We will probably be having these alerts daily as we get closer to the election or bush* continues his poll decline.

2. And the next there will be light followed by dark.
I give up, my trust level isn't even registering anymore. I had this crazy great-uncle that always was going on and on about how you can't trust the government and so on, i think I'm turning into him.

3. Not just sometime in the future...
...but sometime before the election. You know, that election in which those that hate us for our freedom will emerge in droves to vote for John Kerry. The GOP knows it has to take action, pre-emptively, to prevent this tragedy. Their only other option is to round up the "freedom haters" the day of the election. And that could be tricky, since there will likely be more "freedom haters" than "freedom lovers" (freedom lovers: people like Ashcroft, Scalia, Katherine Harris, the Bush family, Apartheid-loving Cheney, etc.).

</sarcasm>

12. The story also talks about chemical, biological, or radiological
weapons that supposedly the terrorists want to use.

My reaction is I'd rather have it be a political ploy than something else at this point. There is nothing to do regarding real or imaginary threats like this regardless for an average joe, can't go around like chicken little.

16. October perhaps ?
There are many who say that, Although the impact of that statement is truly horrifying.
In order to “Save” their man, I could see some here do that.
Just a few weeks ago they busted some guy with bomb making equipment, guns, And a kill list of prominent liberals.

Who knows ?

17. Yeah, a "terrist" attack about the end of October...
...of Biblical proportions, so the election has to be "postponed."

Bet me.

14. The strategy
keep mentioning Spain, then mention election, then mention terror. Ipso facto, voting for the oppostition is "giving in to terrorists" Same tactic used in convincing people that Saddam was responsible for 9/11 without actually saying so.

Tomorrow's CNN poll:

Will you give in to terrorists by voting for Kerry if there is an attack before the election?

Yes, I will give in and vote for Kerry
No, I will not give in and vote for Bush.

22. But I thought we were supposed to be safer?
The veracity of this threat not withstanding, shouldn't this drive home the point that despite billions of dollars, thousands of lives, and the loss of America's moral standing and credibility, the Bush administration has done nothing to make us appreciably safer? Attacks by al Qaeda, or threats thereof, prove this, no?

23. I don't believe it!
If you listened to ALL the reporters, talking heads, anchors etc, they all said this same statement has been made at least 3 times in the past. They come up with it every time there's a major event.

I may be naive, but I just think this is a "keep 'em scared" AND "CYA" tactic.

Or maybe just Wag the Dog!
