At long last--the Mike Malloy vs Randi thread
First off, I ADORE THEM BOTH

Here's my beef: some ahem people who claim to hate Randi say she is a loud, crazy ranter who "bitches" about her situation and doesn't let anybody else get a word in edgewise, and "goes off" on callers, even liberals. These same people profess to love Malloy and maybe even want to see Randi's ass booted in favor of Mike.

However, as I recall, Mike Malloy spends a lot of time in loud crazy rants, he also "bitches" about his situation, and occasionally doesn't let the other person get a word in edgewise (though I admit no one can beat Randi at this trick and I'd like to see her up against Blankley or Hannity sometime to watch her teach those two a lesson!)

Malloy has also has been known to "go off" on people, including liberals. As I do with Randi, I tend to really enjoy it when either one of them do this; it is such a pleasure to hear uninhibited radio now and then. Nevertheless, some people here claim that when Randi does what Mike does, it grates on their nerves and they want her to disappear. I guess it makes ahem certain people kinda nervous for a woman to act a little, um, hysterical.

here's where I put on the goggles and asbestos longies
B-)

Explain to me why your complaints about her "bitchiness" are free of resentment against Randi because she is a woman who is not acting like your idea of a lady. Or why your comments in light of your adoration of similar behavior coming from a MALE is not hypocritical.

And please let me emphasize I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT USE OF THE B WORD IN ITSELF. (Don't want to raise that issue here again!)Personally I'm not interested in censorship, even though words can be offensive at times.

I'm just curious--would you do me a favor and check yourselves in light of this please-- and then decide what you think of Randi?

No hard feelings--you're entitled to any opinion you want.
:luvya: anyway, partners!

PS to everyone else: aren't you glad I started this thread and not you?

2. Randi is stuck on herself
she has a huge ego and has visions of grandure

Malloy is a realist who is best describved as a drinking buddy. He is tolerant and thoughtful. He has obviously been through some things that make him humble.

That's how I see it. I like Randi as a comedienne and critic, but I have less faith when she takes herself seriously, which isn't often.

If she isn't happy with her joob, she can just change it. It's obvious why Malloy isn't on AA - because he is critical of Israel. Same reason you can call for Arab genocide on CSpan call-in, but if you mention Zionism, they cut you right off.

13. Yeah, he's a squirlly DLC fuck that switches sides when it's convienient
The War he supported because it was convienient for $$$ puposes.

He supports Israil because of his religous bullshit feelings for Israil. If AA hires Mike Malloy, it would upset Al and he'd run to the nearest media whore to undermine AA.

3. How about placing Rhodes in Franken's spot and Malloy in her old spot
Franken is a helluva writer, but he sucks absolute ass at radio. He's too slow of a speaker and isn't funny on the spot. Yesterday he had the oppurtunity to slam this apathetic monkey and he didn't do it:wtf:

9. Never heard Malloy, but Rhodes is grating
Edited on Tue May-25-04 08:26 PM by quinnox
And I can't believe how fanatic some of her fans are here at DU, it reminds me of a few Deanies way back when where if you spoke any disparaging word about him they would go nuts and try to shout you into silence.

Here is a recent example ...http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=1664201&mesg_id=1664201

11. my opinion (please don't flame me RR fans)
for me its the NY City attitude thing. I just don't find it enjoyable to listen to. Malloy seems to take himself a whole lot less seriously than Randi. And like a Must Be Free mentioned I find Mike's Israel position and willingness to speak about it on the air more consistent with what I believe. Malloy is a rebel Dem while RR is much more of a mainstream figure (very well informed though). So thats why I prefer Malloy over Randi however, I don't wish to see Randi leave the air. Many enjoy her style and she has quite a loyal audience. I just wish I could choose to listen to Malloy (whether late night or in the afternoon) like the good ol days.

15. No flames perceived
I am an RR fan and a Malloy fan. With RR, to a great degree, her strengths compensate for her weaknesses. But we strive for perfection. RR could improve for me if she were more humble and less gross, but then she's like the female Stern - I guess gross is part of her identity.

16. The Incomparable Mike Malloy !
Personal reactions to each host will be just that, but Mike and Kathy and a few regular callers put together put together some listening experiences for the listeners that were completely unique to The Mike Malloy Show. That was much more than a "talk show." His clear expressions of revulsion at the crimes of this cabal and their helpers are only one aspect of that show, since he wasn't simply moralizing -- he also drew attention to the essence of the matter and exposed how things work. His famous "rants" were much more than that. They were lessons.

If downloading a full program from whiterosesociety.org is not practical, there are some shorter excerpts below the program archives, and a few choice mp3's on Mike's site: http://www.mikemalloy.com/gallery.html
