my thread has been locked twicw now. I understand that the Israel-Palestine section requires it be a recent issue..but what is preventing this being a general discussion item? is this a lounge question??/

because it's not a "recent article" which means the I/P has a fairly limited scope.

It might be able to stay up for longer than a couple of posts if you put it in the general "foreign affairs" section

4. I was locked out of the Israel /Palestine forum
they stated that it had to be related to an article or issue from the last 3 weeks...

2. there's a long history behind it
but the upshot is you can use the I/P forum in Foreign Affairs for such a discussion.

5. Your Best Course, Sir
Would be to privately contact the moderators of the Foreign Affairs forum. Open-ended questions like this can sometimes turn into propagandists' cat-fights, and so are discouraged by a rule requiring discussions kick off from a published item. The moderators have discretion in the matter, however. They may also be able to provide you with the information you seek.
