New Poll Shows Bush, Kerry In Dead Heat In Florida
8:21 am EDT May 26, 2004

President Bush and Sen. John Kerry are in a statistical dead heat in Florida less than six months before the presidential election, according to a new Zogby International poll.

The poll surveyed voters in 16 battleground states that have been besieged by more than $115 million of television advertisements supporting the candidates.

1. Florida elections are fixed, imho. I wouldn't count on that state. (nt)

2. As someone who lives in FL
You may well be right; I'd hope not, but I'd focus on winning other battle ground states rather than this one.

4. Kerry should focus on the Cuban-Americans.
They are pretty much all Bush supporters.

5. FL has enough voters against Bush that Kerry should concentrate on them
and getting them all to the polls. Just as Bush could never convert me, Kerry will have a tough time converting many of them.

7. Non-floridians have about had it...

...the the Cuban-American population that supports Bush and opposes any normalization with Cuba. IMO this group has too much power in American politics....

...from what I understand anyway.

6. Bush has given Kerry the opportunity for Florida...
... because his incompetence has become harder and harder to ignore as time goes on. A state known for its voting seniors pays attention to politics.

Kerry now has to take advantage. I don't like talking about certain futures, but Kerry has run some successful campaigns in the past, and won against a popular Republican.
