War/Fear/War/Fear being pushed again... but will it help them?
I hope not.

My feeling, and I'd thought this long before now, is that regardless of whether people "believed" the various stories about WMD, Nick Berg beheading, and now the "impending terra attack", that Americans would just tire of it all. You know, get sick of fear. Get sick of the bilious, angry feeling stirred up by watching Fox or listening to RW talk radio.

Thus, even if you BELIEVE that the upcoming "terror attack" whether successful or "thwarted" was from Middle Eastern Islamic terrorists, that even some of their "centrist" voters will just associate all this ugliness with BUSH, and instead of voting him in through fear, will either vote against, or not at all. Just to be rid of him and his whole mess of a presidency.

Thoughts?

1. I think you are right
What credibility do they have now? What if there really was a serious threat? How would we know? Who would believe them?

Not me.

3. Well I did send a leter to the editor
asking the questions the media will not ask, that are just so obvious

Such as... how did these boys come across the border? Did the FBI hide this from the DHS, and Immigration? That is against stated policy at the highest levels

Sad though the brief for about five minutes, had the feel of the real deal... yep have sat on them before... but they also refused to give us any actual valuable information.

Oh and a reporter did ask at the end whether this was chicken little one too many times. Surprise, Ashcroft and Mueller walked out at that moment

5. The idea of "Terror warnings are a product of low poll numbers"
was bandied about on NPR this afternoon. The language was a bit evasive, but the comentator confronted the subject head on.

6. Really I believe people are
getting more and more skeptical about these "terror" warnings, anytime they need a boost in the polls or a destraction they have a "terror" warning. :eyes:

7. They have the "Fear"
But it's not a terror attack of which they fear.

8. World safer with Saddam gone?

I thought we were supposed to be much safer once Saddam was out of the way. someone in the media needs to grow a pair and remind everyone of this little tidbit that was bandied about so handily. :grr:
