Why wait ? IMPEACH!
Help me understand why we can't call for the impeachment and or resignation of ALL of them right now!

I heard Al Gore's speech last night and I was moved to tears.

A few weeks ago I read at DU that we should not push for impeachment because we don't have control of Congress. And, "we don't want the Republicans to be mad at us this close to the election."

I am trying to keep the "political correct" stuff in my mind. The problem is.. this country is going down the tubes every second. We are a walking time bomb. Must we wait until November and PRAY that Kerry gets elected?

I recall hearing Congressman John Conyers on CSPAN this summer. He said something like.." if you believe strongly that the Bush administration is doing the wrong thing for this country, don't just tell your neighbor, tell your elected officials."

His point was that without them hearing loud and clear from their supporters they don't hold the cards to put themselves out on a limb.

I am mad as hell and I don't want to take this mess anymore.

:spank:

1. President Dennis Hastert.
Republican majorities in Congress won't go for it. Party loyalty will come first.

2. Yes, you can talk House Speaker Hastert and persuade him to .....
bring it up? I'm sure he will have no problem with that. Otherwise, Democrats have nothing to say about what agenda is brought up in the House? So I'm not sure how you would do that???

3. Because the House of Representatives
has to do it, and because the House won't, because it is dominated by Republicans? I don't think Frist and DeLay, et al., will go for it. But there's no harm in telling them what we think.

4. Can't do it without a majority in the House of Reps.
You really can't even get it discussed there without agreement from the majority. The Repug majority would never allow it. So, it's a non-issue.

5. They're afraid it WILL get thru...
.. people keep saying 'the pug control of the House won't let it be heard'..

I think they are AFRAID to let it be heard because they FEAR that it WILL GET THRU. There are enough McCain's and such that are SICK of this that they KNOW that enough people would say ENOUGH, if for no other reason than to boost their re-election.

If we could get it out, IT WOULD PASS.

6. BECAUSE
the republicans in congress will never vote for impeachment or even hold hearings. Also if democrats even bring it up the repugs would just say it is payback for impeaching Clinton and many of the public would believe it. I think that impeaching Clinton was immunization against any possibility of impeaching bush. Also you would nt want to raise his approval rating, would you? Just let him look dirtier all the time and the public will vote him out.

7. The trick
is to convince enough Republicans that Bush and Pals DO NOT have the best interests of this country at heart. And make them aware of the enormous double-standard that exists when it comes to what's impeachable and what's not. If lying about sex is enough to get impeached, then CERTAINLY lying to justify a war is more than enough to get your ass booted to the curb.

8. I wrote letters calling for impeachment in March, 2003 and
sent them to my Dem. Senators and my 'Bush lap-dog' Republican Rep. Funny, I didn't get a reply from any of them, but am on record. (Mustn't be too bad since I was allowed to fly out and in of the country last month!)
