2. I only wish the Democrats had that much gumption . . .
but if you took a poll at the gates of Disney I'm sure you'd find an equal split of dems and repubs.

68 million people voted on American Idol only 12 million voted in the Democratic primaries . . . that's the sad state of affairs!

Most people will only boycott something that won't have a real affect on their lives.

But I'm with you on this one, no Disney. . . .

9. 68 million votes were cast on "American Idol". Many voted 20x or more.

18. 68 million people? maybe 68 million votes...
No offense, but I've seen this little analogy used too often here. Since people voted multiple times (and did not have to go to a polling place to do it, and take time off work), the analogy doesn't work.

Say there were 20 million people who actually vote for American Idol, each of whom voted 3-4 times. In 2000 60% of eligible voters voted... over 110 million people. Still annoying that only 60% of our citizens vote, but to say that more people vote for American Idol just doesn't fly. 20 million is less than 20% of 110 million. Even 68 million is only 62% of all the people who voted in 2000. And we know most people voted more than once.

19. WRONG - Actually only 51.3 % of eligible voters voted in the 2000 election
and we know that in America many more people care about the outcome of American Idol than they do about the Presidency of the United States!!!

51.3 % of Americans took the two minutes it takes to speak for deomcracy!

21. 2 Minutes?
That's odd... it took me 2 hours. And, an EMT person was there who had to take the entire morning off without pay because she worked 2 hours from her polling site.

I think your cynicism is a bit inflated if you really think that more people care about the outcome of American Idol.

3. We really wanted to see Shrek II but decided NOT to
They have no right to decide what we should or shouldn't see.

6. No Shrek is Dreamworks, a strong Disney opponent. Actually
they parody a lot of Disney characters in the Shrek movies.

5. Nice idea. But try telling that to my 5-yr old.
Same thing when I tried boycotting Johnson & Johnson when they didn't hire me after an interview where I thought I did pretty good. When you have infants that you need to take care of, J&J is just not replaceable. Some brands are too darn powerful that you just can't ignore them.
Are you going to stop watching ESPN or Monday Night Football? They are Disney brands as well. Yes, I'll try avoiding it as much as possible but I just cannot do without it.

:(

16. We went this past winter to Disney World
What an overrated piece of crap that place is!

The kids did enjoy some of the rides, but it was way too expensive for the plastic "fantasy".

22. I thought I was alone...I hate Disney World
I can have more fun in my backyard and no one is charging me a fortune to do so...

For every ride there were approximately two gift shops and when rides off load into gift shops you know that capitalism has poisoned the place.

this will be a piece of cake.
Even as a child, I hated their stuff. Bugs and Daffy rule! :)
