BosGlobe Editorial calls Gore "sad"
 :argh:
Fellow Massholes will understand immediately once they see the name. It's a Joan Vennochi column. :eyes: She goes on and on about how sad he is and how nothing ever works out for him and she said Democrats don't want anything to do with him and that when he makes a speech it makes Democrats depressed! She is beyond clueless. She thinks his speech went over POORLY with Dems. Au contraire, morAn.

Being Al Gore
http://www.boston.com/news/globe/editorial_opinion/oped/articles/2004/05/28/being_al_gore/
IT MUST BE sad to be Al Gore.

Four years ago, he won more popular votes than the current occupant of the Oval Office. Today, he is a man without a purpose, and he may end up a man without a party. Standing anywhere near him can be hazardous to a Democrat's political health.

As far as Gore is concerned, he was just warming up for his keynote speech at the Democratic Convention.

Mark my words, he'll steal the show!

Might be a good idea to write this mindless whore and tell her - politely, of course - how screwed up in the head she must be to peddle this crap.

10. Get her marching orders from MoDo, did she?
Let me guess without reading the column. Our Joan, just like MoDo, claims that a whole bunch of Democrats really, really don't want Al Gore to be visible at all this campaign. These phantom Democrats, as in MoDo's column, are not named, not quoted directly, and exist only in her fevered imagination.

Someone who's read the column can tell me if she pulls off the MoDo Bonus of using the phrase "most Democrats", without attribution to any Democrats or any other factual foundation.

Let me know how I did.

If you want to let the editor know your feelings about Ms. Clueless you can email at letter@globe.com or use this form:

I told them that I realize that they feel the need to have a couple neocons on staff to feel that they are balanced, but they could at least have one on staff that has a brain. Vennochi is out of touch and clueless. Her editorial on Gore and how the Democrats feel about him couldn't be further from the truth.

13. here's mine:
It's interesting to know that the 2000 propaganda machine that gave this country the present catastrophic Bush regime is still up in force.
It must be sad being you - deep inside you know you screwed up and brought misery and death to thousands in this country and in the word.
But hey, on the bright side, you contributed a new world in the English language: to "Gore" someone. It came in very handy in this political cycle as a shortcut for your bias.
PS. This Democrat jumped up and clapped during Gore's speech.

Dominance is not really a strategic policy or political philosophy at all. It is a seductive illusion that tempts the powerful to satiate their hunger for more power still by striking a Faustian bargain.

15. My letter
Dear Ms. Vennochi,

I don't know what research you're basing your column on, but this Democrat is far from "tired" of Al Gore. His speech was an eloquent, powerful retrospective on the disastrous three years of the Bush administration, when Gore rightfully should have been our president.

I don't believe Al Gore is "sad," except in the sense that we're all sad about the failures of the Bush administration and how they've devastated our country. I think Al Gore's passion, righteous anger, and forthright honesty were entirely appropriate. This is a speech I believe history will quote as future generations look back at a time that, I hope, is a turning point after hitting rock bottom. It moved me to tears and cheers.

In short, I think you're completely wrong, and out of touch with what Democrats are thinking and feeling right now.

Sincerely,

I'm so sick of these asshole Republicans trying to tell the world what Democrats think!

Here's my email to her - she needs to hear from so many Dems her mailbox overloads.

Re: Al Gore

Perhaps you should consult with the majority of rank-and-file Democrats before you label (on behalf of the Democratic party, no less!) Mr. Gore "sad".

I watched his speech on CSPAN the other night with three other Democrats and all of us thought it was powerful. Perhaps your problem with is was that it was also true, and truth is verboten in a country that's rapidly become a fascist theocracy.

There's a tremendous amount of support for PRESIDENT Gore in the country, and I daresay he's a more credible figure in the nation than the dimwitted thug currently in office.

Reference Joan Vennochi's recent insulting bile filled article, "Being Al Gore".

I just listened, for the second time, to Mr.Gore's speech, and I couldn't disagree with the author more.

It was a beautiful speech. It was a brilliant speech. It was a TRUTHFUL speech.

You know what's "sad"? People like her.

It's "journalists" like her who got us stuck with this brain-dead incompetent, aka George Bush.

Just as during Campaign 2000, Gore's substance is NEVER attacked -- his motives, mannerisms, etc. are.

Maybe if the author can pry her lips off of Bush's penis long enough to LISTEN to the substance of what was said she will have a better grasp of the event, and Gore's meaning.

31. My e-mail to her:
"Yes, Gore's speech did make me sad. I was crying by the end of it. Crying for what could have been if he were president. One thousand US soldiers might still be alive. Tens of thousands of Iraqi men, women, and children might still be alive. We might still have a budget surplus. Oh, so many things. But what Gore's speech really did was make me proud. Proud that he had the courage and patriotism to stand up for American ideals - i.e., torture is NOT an American ideal."

33. Here's mine..
Ms. Vennochi,
Words nearly fail me at what a shill for the RNC you are. You have no idea what Democrats think of that speech (the most watched video on C-Span.com for the last 2 days) since you appear not to know any Democrats. A few points:
"He backs Air America, the liberal radio channel that is another disaster in the making. He is also supposed to be starting a cable news channel for the under-35 crowd, except most of those folks don't watch TV news."
Air America is doing well (I listen to it every day). The under-35 crowd don't watch TV news because they're tired of the corporate pabulum that gets dished up these days in place of real news. If someone gives them some real news about things that matter, they might watch.
"When he gives a speech, Democrats are depressed, Republicans are delighted. ``Republicans love it when Gore gets mad'' is the headline over an article in National Review Online following Gore's overwrought address at New York University on Wednesday."
Those attending the speech and listening on C-Span were exultant, not depressed. Who cares what the National Review says?
" On the Republican side, the nastiness does not yet come directly from Bush or his Cabinet."
Really? Are you ever going to make Bush be accountable for anything? Of course every lie and speck of dirt in his campaign is authorized by him.
"The country doesn't need more impassioned rhetoric from its leaders, it need more leaders offering well-reasoned, well-articulated policy."
Neither of which we get from Bush.
"it would nice to hear his plans for Iraq, the economy, and other matters of national interest. Then voters could compare it with the results of Bush's plans. There is no need to call anyone an incompetent liar while the comparison is underway. Voters can reach their own conclusion."
Bush has no plans for Iraq, the economy (except more tax cuts) or anything else except to undermine the Age of Enlightenment. I have reached my own conclusion; Bush is a very competent liar, but quite incompetent at running the country.
"humorless, self-righteous liberalism"
Beats the humorless, self-righteous "conservatism" of the Know Nothings currently running the country. What's so funny these days, anyway?
Your bias screams out at your readers. It must be sad being you, having voted for a pack of war criminals. Remember, "I was just following orders" is an inadequate defense.
Name and city

What a piece of shit that woman is!
