How I trapped my Bush fan friend:
Ok, I happen to be friends with someone who is an otherwise well-reasoned and articulate person but unfortunately supports Bush.

While this happened a few months ago, it worked well then and I'm sure it will work even better now. Anyways, here's what I said (or words to that effect):

"Bush could really shut everyone up and prove he's right about how to handle Iraq by withdrawing and letting other countries move in. Let their troops get bombed and shot at and then say how it wasn't as simple as they might have thought it was. That'll show them."

That stopped my friend in his tracks. He didn't know what to say after that.

2. Who said it would be simple besides bushco?

Really?

Our allies ALL cautioned bushco that their little adventure would be anything but a cakewalk and that we wouldn't be greeted with flowers. Even some of our own analysts warned against losing the peace (they were ignored).

The analogy you draw is basically flawed. It's as if bushco decided the best place to play street hoops was in the middle of The 5 in LA during pre-rush hour when people are doing 80mph bumper-to-bumper. Who knew they'd all be mowed by the traffic? Hey, our allies should try it some time...it's not so simple!

3. Right.
That's why the approach I took was so effective.

4. Good one
Bush could probably win the election by admitting he screwed up. Fortunately, he never will.

6. A friend of mine and I agree that he could win by going anti-Nafta...
to try and win union workers back...like that's going to happen though. ;)
