Why don't we require some testing of presidential candidates?
This was obliquely proposed by opihimoimoi in this thread
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x1689616

and got me thinking about the psychological and knowledge tests I had to endure just to be a cop as I worked my way through college. And later, when I became chief pilot for a corporation, a bunch more tests of those sorts (companies don't want idiot nutballs driving their 5 million dollar airplanes with their CEO and families on board)* - yet we don't seem to care that anybody with enough juice and money can become president (witness the debacle we have right now.)

The only 'vetting' they get is by way of their own campaigning and whatever criticism might emanate from the "other" side. Then, to add insult to idiocy, they're allowed to exercise huge influence if not essentially unlimited power to install thousands of other people in positions of power without regard to their actual mental state or intellectual gravitas!

* and the testing that commercial airline pilots go through is FAR more comprehensive. Does anyone seriously imagine Chimpy could make the grade of that regimen? I sure as hell don't.

7. Let them take a " Final "
Sometime after the last debate both people have to take the current years SATS.

Have them sit on opposite ends of a long table with video cameras over head watching them as they answer each question.

Broadcast it live on C-span and there could even be a running commentary.

9. That' s scary....they used to test blacks before they let them vote too..
....any citizen regardless of what you or I think of them, is eligible to run for office if they meet the age and residency criteria. In democracies you sometimes get crap...it's still worth living in one.
