Nazi AOL releases 'new' poll with Bush ahead in Ohio
They had this dubious finding all day long today for their subscribers to read. American Research Group: "John Kerry leads George W. Bush among likely voters in Ohio according to a survey by the American Research Group. A total of 49% of likely voters say they would vote for Kerry if the presidential election were being held today and 42% say they would vote for Bush. In a race between just Kerry and Bush, Kerry is at 50%, Bush is at 43%, and 7% are undecided." Zogby also recently showed Kerry ahead in OH. In response, a "new poll" was conducted by the Mason-Dixon Co (the name says it all!) that, like all Mason-Dixon polls at all times and in all places, shows Bush leading Kerry. (Democrats.com)

1. maybe if
John Kerry would advocate the withdrawal from Iraq and speak out against globalization he would be kicking the shit out of Bush, as we say here in the South. Instead we get a non-candidate.

3. your view is very simplistic
Withdraw from Iraq after all the damage we caused? We have to stay until we rebuild that country, no matter how many billions this should take. Then the US must recompensate families, also in the billions. We need soldiers there, not to kill, torture or protect the oil, but to secure this enormous reconstruction and recompensation efforts.

10. Sigh
> We need soldiers there

No we don't. If we really want to help them, we need to send social workers, architects, and administrators. Those are the people that rebuild countries, not the idiots with guns that are trained to destroy them.

11. as long as there are soldiers there, they will be getting killed
read the article about the insurgency in the new Harper's.

The Iraqis see it as their religious duty to attack and kill anybody occupying their country.

There's really no way around it.

Our soldiers need to simply get the hell out of there. It's a no-win situation.

As far as rebulding, well, write 'em a check or something.

>As far as rebulding, well, write 'em a check or something.

How do we even give them money? The only government there is ours.

4. If Kerry took that position
his poll numbers would be the same as Kucinich's and Dean's were. I do agree with Dean (I gave a small amount of money to him), but the public has to be led along slowly.

Frankly, I think Bush will do his best to cut and run with honor. Sarcasm.

So, all Kerry can really say is that he will do his best to rebuild our relationships with our allies and handle the situation in Iraq with intelligence and dignity when he takes office in January. It's impossible at this time to say what that situation will be because Kerry has no way of knowing what decisions the Bush administration will make between now and then. And those decisions will impact the situation he inherits.

8. Past Experience
Nixon defeated McGovern even though Nixon was lying through his teeth and McGovern was right on the facts. McGovern spoke the truth, but people just weren't ready to hear it.

The media is owned by the corporations and they will spin for the Republicans. So if a Democrat sounds too far from the center--which has definitely moved right--the Dem will be spun as overly emotional (Ed Muskie of Maine, McGovern during Vietnam, Dean in Iowa, Gore at Move-On). Then the center voters will be afraid to identify with someone who may be "unstable."

The Republicans have already run ads saying that Kerry voted against equipment for soldiers in Iraq. They are also accusing Kerry of being unpatriotic and partisan.

I think Kerry is right to appear statesmanlike on Iraq. His best bet is to question Bush's lack of planning because so many people can see that this accusation is true.

i agree with most of what you say, particularly about the media. it explains why the current administration didn't have to move slowly at all. i just wonder if we are at this point: "extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures."

6. So
He should take an inferior view to appease people without a grasp of serious foriegn policy.

"I know, let's pull out of Iraq! Power vacuums always come out OK!"

2. see I have noticed that as well
Mason Dixon does seem to always show Bush doing better than other polls, well not always, but most of the time.

7. That's the same poll people were posting here last week.
At least, I assume so, since it was conducted by Mason-Dixon. They did one last week for the Cleveland Plain Dealer that showed those percentages. This isn't new, and AOL didn't pay for it. The polls are all over the place, right now -- no surprise there.

12. dump AOL already
I don't understand why anyone would still be on AOL if they knew the alternatives.

AOL sucks big-time. I was on it for years and I dumped it when I finally couldn't stand it any more.

There's absolutely no reason to be on AOL.
