Easy-to-Spot Air Security Might Be Easy Target

The element of surprise may be crucial to their mission, but it turns out they're "as easy to identify as a uniformed police officer," the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Assn. said in a complaint to Congress.

The problem is not security leaks. It's the clothes.

In an era when "dressing down" is the traveler's creed, air marshals must show up in jackets and ties, hair cut short, bodies buffed, shoes shined.

Jack Webb would be proud, but the marshals say they stand out like shampooed show dogs among the pound pups.

1. The air marshall program is a joke

and a total waste of taxpayer money.

Back in the 70's when we first had them (I was a ticket agent at National Airport in those years) not only were they also readily identifiable just by looking at them, but they were by far the most arrogant assholes I've ever known.

It's not as though attempted hijackings are a daily routine. And they haven't been, ever, even at the height of the hijackings to Cuba back in the early 70's which was why airport security got started in the first place.
