Negativity SOOOO Early and SOOOO Over The Top
Edited on Mon May-31-04 11:25 PM by Beetwasher
is the sign of true desperation. I hope by now you've read the recent duo of WP articles slamming Chimpco. for their over the top negativity and dishonesty. If you haven't, please see the links below.

By November, people will be so sick of and so inured to Bush's over the top lies and distortion, it will be a wonder if they don't puke immediately upon hearing his name and crawl over each other to vote for Kerry.

Meanwhile, Kerry is running mostly positive ads, and if he's smart will continue to do so. Those urging Kerry to come out every day and bash the Chimp, when he's got GREAT surrogates to do it for him like Gore, need to realize the benefits of actual strategy and statesmanship. Kerry has the initiative. What does he do with it? Does he go for Bush jugular? Maybe not rhetorically, but he's just opened up the front lines and is making a play for VA!! Now THAT'S brilliant strategy! Bush will HAVE to waste resources in VA now and will go full throttle w/ his negative bullshit in VA. Mark my words, VA will be in play and it will Waste MILLIONS for the Chimp.

Have no fear, JK knows EXACTLY what he's doing.

1. exactly - they are trying to distort reality but they are so over-the-top
it's backfiring on them...

I watched Faux briefly lasted Friday Nite - and the blonde standing in for Hannity was calling Kerry a traitor, etc...it was just absurd. You could tell from their crest-fallen faces that in their hearts they knew it was absurd.

Freepville has been the same way lately. Kerry has been running an excellent, clean campaign. So the freeptards are trading on rumors and just making shit up...

3. Speculation, but I think the primaries proved people tire of these ads
Edited on Mon May-31-04 11:25 PM by jpgray
A steady stream of negative ads has been coming from Bush ever since the spectacular failure of his early 'positive' ad. As another DUer (I think it came from Josh Marshall, originally) noted, there are many pictures of Kerry on Bush's website and almost none of the candidate himself, whereas on Kerry's website almost all the pictures are of Kerry.

4. No wonder Dumbya's campaign ads are so negative
He has absolutely NOTHING positive to run on.

And yes, it is very interesting to note Dumbya's "re-election" web site is full of pictures of Kerry, where are the pictures of Dumbya???

9. well, even that first ad was full of lies...
First off, in the ad, he claimed he inherited a recession, which his own economists say did not start until March 2001. In fact, he pushed his first tax cut on the premise that the economy was so good that some of the surplus should be returned to the people.

In Jan of 2002, he said he would not exploit the tragedy of 9/11 for political purposes. Then, in the that same very first ad of the campaign season, he exploits it using fakes to stand in for NYC firefighters.

5. There's little reason to go negative.
Let your enemy hang himself. Chimpy's pissed off too many people in DC, long-time staffers like Richard Clarke, the intelligence community, and the military. Now the chickens are coming home to roost. Before this is over chimpy will wish it was only a bj in the Oval Office.

6. I agree Kerry is playing it very smart
The guy has a record that proves he knows how to run a campaign.

Stay out of the way of the Bush train wreck. That train wreck is changing so quickly, that if Kerry were to go on the record regarding any of it, it could bite him on the ass later.

Stay positive. People are craving a positive message after years of Bush death and destruction and lying and fear.

10. Today I heard
the first "positive" Bush ad. Some bullshit ad about improving education standards.

Ha, what a joke. His ads suck...Maybe they realized the 70+ million dollars in negative ads hardly did anything....then again, I doubt they realized anything. They don't learn...

And it's obvious they have nothing to run on. Look Ma, I let 3,000 Americans get killed and then I used fear to enact a police state!

12. Interesting analysis from a former Dole staffer
>>>Scott Reed, who ran Robert J. Dole's presidential campaign that year, said the Bush campaign has little choice but to deliver a constant stream of such negative charges. With low poll numbers and a volatile situation in Iraq, Bush has more hope of tarnishing Kerry's image than promoting his own.

"The Bush campaign is faced with the hard, true fact that they have to keep their boot on his neck and define him on their terms," Reed said. That might risk alienating some moderate voters or depressing turnout, "but they don't have a choice," he said.
<<<

Even Republicans are admitting Bush has nothing to run on!
