seriously though, its not the patriot act that is abused, it sets almost no limits so you pretty much cant abuse it, but its the constitution itslef that is being violated.

9. Well, there's an abuse right there, Mr. Cheney
Under the USA PATRIOT Act, librarians can be interrogated and forced to produce patrons' reading lists without a warrant and without probable cause. Those librarians are also, under the Act, forbidden to discuss any contact from government agents.

So, simply by asking the question, Cheney knows that any librarian who speaks up about government snooping is putting himself or herself at risk under the Act.

Cheney = Genuine Piece of Shit

11. Any American that is locked up without "Due Process" is wrong period.
I'm sure it is easy enough for him to find the Americans that have been locked up only on one person's say so without due process that is guaranteed all Americans by the US Constitution. Also the constitution guarantees a right to privacy in our homes and papers. Patriot Act nullifies that.

12. He's guilty of treason for leaking Plame to Novack
and he still has a job. We have one less counterterrorism agent with expertise in WMD in the field making us all less safe from all the boogeymen out there who hate us for our freedoms.

It doesn't work or else he'd be in an orange jumpsuit by now.

13. Deceitful SOB isn't he?
The so-called Patriot Act makes it illegal to disclose those abuses. Whether it's bookstores, libraries, or internet service providers, warrantless searches, now authorized in violation of the 4th Amendment are done secretly and it is a crime to disclose those actions by Federal police.

Here's an article by a lawyer explaining the illegal prior restraints and the difficulties the act poses based on the First and Fourth Amendment violations in respect to one lawsuit by the ACLU:

Ashcroft, Snoops and Gag Orders
The Secrets of Surveillance
By ELAINE CASSEL

http://www.counterpunch.org/cassel05292004.html

The chilling effect on First Amendment rights is unbelievable. Abuse doesn't have to be demonstrated to exert a chilling effect. The lawyers are gagged while the central government propagandizes their cause with deliberately misleading and deceitful statements.

14. Isn't our Government still holding 100-200 Muslim males
in different prisons, have not filed charges on them, will not allow them an attorney, and will not allow their family to see them? Did they release all those guys? Have they filed charges against them yet?

Oh, and now they do not need a search warrant to come into our homes as that slows their processes down? They have given local police this freedom to search anyone without a warrant.

Do they realize what arrogant little asses SOME local cops are, and that they feel more like men because they carry a gun on their hip. Please, I have two cousins who are deputies, and these guys do not think their you know what stinks. Arrogant asses.

Oh yeah, they can go into any ISP on the Internet and stalk you without any real reason to do so. Gosh there are just so many my mind is racing.

16. So called Madrid bomber Mayfield
The FBI continues to use the "immaterial witness" clause to harrass and hold people for no reason. They continued to fight for this in court until a Federal judge put a stop to the nonsense.
