Some LTEs to the Minneapolis Star Tribune
http://www.startribune.com/stories/563/4818746.html

"Reagan's dead -- get over it!" Could you imagine anyone writing something so hurtful to those who grieve? Maybe now all those clever folks who slapped on "Wellstone's dead -- get over it!" bumper stickers will understand the depth of their cruelty.
Mutual respect is a two-way street that extends to one another's political heroes.
Mike, Eagan

I fail to see any balance in the reporting on the legacy of Ronald Reagan. He did not "end" the Cold War. The Soviet Union self-destructed.

He preached that greed was good and unions were bad. He labeled popular movements against oppressive governments in Central America as Communist and poured American money and training into right-wing death squads. His tax cuts benefited only the highest bracket and contributed to the ballooning deficits of today.

The man should be honored, but that does not mean ignoring the historical record. As a president, he was a disaster.

Curtis, St. Paul.

What a serendipitous circumstance that President Reagan happened to pass away at the beginning of a week during which there was apparently no other news that needed to be reported.
Robert, Minneapolis.

2. say what you want about the funny accents and the cold weather...
...but there's good folk in Minnesota who don't take shit and don't appreciate it shoved down their throats. I worked for a Minnesota-based company for nine years and have very fond memories of quite a few folks up there.
