I want to know why she's sleeping at the funeral!

amid all the waves of dark fabric. Nancy herself did that, at one of the conventions, and I think, at one of the State of the Union addresses. It was much whispered during the Reagan era that Nancy's social secretary-types sent word around about what she'd be wearing to such-and-such an event, so that none of the other women would wear something conflicting or distracting, or heaven forbid - the same thing. Nancy used her Hollywood background to help stage things effectively. She was VERY savvy about this. And she made sure, as First Lady, that she stood out. VERY often it was because she was wearing either glaringly-bright red (an attention-getting color anyway) or white. And if you ever look at some of those old photos of such events, you'll note that everybody else around her, especially the women, were dressed in far more subtle tones and styles - so she would stand out.

When I worked at NBC, lots of our techies (the engineers, camera guys and soundmen, and field producers) would spend a LOT of time shuttling back and forth from Burbank to Santa Barbara, since Reagan spent so much of his presidency taking his long series of California vacations. And some of 'em would come back with stories about this, from having gotten close to a number of the White House staffers and accessory people, or the old Hollywood contingent that was very much a part of this scene.

So looks like the old bag barbara took a cue from that. Typical classless lowlife. That she would want to steal some attention from the grieving widow by wearing something bright and attention-getting. I guess she liked the effect it had when she test-drove it at Reagan's coffin in the Capitol building. WHAT a bitch. What a QUEEN BITCH. Just lowlife. It's NOT about YOU, bar. Hello?

Frankly, I was surprised that her snotnosed boy wasn't chewing gum during the funeral.

I'd love to see pictures of her at other funerals, to learn if that's a typical MO or just a dig at Nancy.

Note all the other babes around her, along with Reagan women, Thatcher, Cherie Blair, Tipper Gore all got the memo about black at funerals.

and look at the picture off all the ex-presidents. Ford looks old, Carter does too and there are Bill and Hilary, older than they were in 1992 (remember?)but still so vital. I wonder how long before they are just a couple of old people the kids know nothing about?

I hate to say this, but she is going to go soon.

I've noticed that in couples who have been together very long, as one dies the other follows soon after.

you could be right but it depends on whether or not she finds some mission for the rest of her life. There has been some noise about her getting even more involved in pushing for stem-cell research and if she finds herself a crusade like that she may just get that "beautiful life". Personally I hope so...if would be nice if something good could come from all of this.

I hope she finds something to hold on to. But you're right about spouses following each other. My own dad died in Jan 95 and by July 96, mom was dead too.

She looked so exhausted leaving the cathedral. I'm sure the Reagans are ready for it to be over. The public part anyway.

I wish her the best in that and hope she finds peace and purpose.

I feel sorry for her, too. And I've wondered how long she has. I hope she lasts for awhile, especially with her new mission in her husband's name. And their blood line ends here, unless Ron Junior and his wife eventually have a kid. That dipshit Michael Reagan has kids, but neither Ron Junior nor Patty have them. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, Patty had her tubes tied years ago, to make sure she would NOT carry on the family bloodline, during her more rebellious stage. Something she's since written that she regrets having done. But so be it. Unfortunately, the bushes have multiplied like the AIDS virus.

I am no fan of fundamentalism...but for goodness sake there was not a single fundamentalist involved in that service, not that I saw. There were Jews and Catholics and other mainline Protestants.
