It's beginning to feel a lot like Watergate
(sung)Everywhere I go.

http://hmmm2.blogspot.com/

There are threads mentioning this elsewhere, but Kevin Drum talks about the torture investigation going higher and higher.

Brad DeLong relates an e-mail of a Sy Hersh speech of the horror, the horror.

Can you say indictments, boys and girls?

1. The simple fact is the repugs still control the congress
and they'll never impeach BushCo. If they do, they'll go down with him. If Seymour Hersh has the pictures of children being tortured, one would think that would be enough to bring down ANY government. And I hope it would happen here. But sadly, with DeLay, Hastert, Frist and so many other pieces of human waste in charge, I hold out little hope of it ever happening. Hope I'm wrong.

3. Oh yes, indictments.
There's nothing better than the smell of indictments in the morning. It smells like VICTORY.

Of course, after the election he can pardon them all on his way out. But I doubt that he can pardon himself. If he cuts off all the legs of the table then there will be no other choice but to indict the Torturer-in-Chief. He'd have a chance if he threw a few underlings to the liberal wolves.

4. I lived through Watergate and this is no Watergate!
This is not some 'third rate burglary' this is treason, pure and simple. "I do solemnly swear or affirm that I will uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America."
In spite of all evidence, I still think that some Representatives and Senators, on both sides of the aisle, believe that their oath of office means something. Barry Goldwater had to go to the White House to tell Nixon it was over. I think either a Senator or maybe even GHWB will be sent on that same mission soon. McCain might have to call for impeachment before it is taken seriously but it will happen. The Constitution and the country have suffered too much. I'm sixty years old and I still have faith in the people of this country and the power of the Constitution.

"You can't fool all of the people all of the time."

5. I agree. This is much worse.
I'm talking about the mechanics and the consequences.

It will take generations to rebuild the United States' reputation in the world.

6. I'm old enough to remember Watergate, and it's TRUE. This is NO
"third-rate burglary." That's like comparing a brick to a grain of aquarium gravel. This is LIGHTYEARS beyond Watergate.

7. I have started a little piece entitled "The Case Against Bush"
for a friend of mine who is a big Kerry supporter but whose husband thinks Bush is just swell. As I was typing up point by point scandals and illegal activities I was thinking - God almighty this guy is far worse than Nixon! When I am finished with it, I will post it here.
