Four BILLION a GD MONTH in Iraq....
http://www.msnbc.com/news/936819.asp?0cl=c3

Just don't bring up that talk of nationalized health care though--way,way to expensive for this nation to be able to afford.

This is fucking outrageous. This is what it costs to get Americans killed on a daily basis.

1. UGH - look at the $$ for weapons systems and related stuff
to be bought from military contractors. No doubt the personnel will get the short end of the stick and THE CONTRACTORS WILL GET THE GRAVY!!

WE NEED A WAR PROFITS TAX, AT LEAST.

4. I just saw the gross figures in the article,
the amount needed to replace AF transport, the amount needed to replace munitions, upgrade weapons, etc. We will buy all this stuff from contractors.

Meanwhile, repugs want to take away some of the imminent danger pay for some of the troops.

This article doesn't even talk about the REBUILDING money that contractors like Bechtel,Halliburton et al will get. This article is about strictly MILITARY expense.

6. Halliburton, KBR
Saw this in LBN, KBR is taking over all kinds of operations that they weren't originally contracted to do and that the locals could do themselves. Open-ended contracts just sort of give them however much they say they want. This is the wildest thing I've ever seen in my 45 years on the planet.

5. Add Another Billion/month for afghanistan
Iraq Cost Estimate Doubled (+Afgan. add. $1 billion/mo.)

http://www.bayarea.com/mld/mercurynews/news/6271430.htm

The $3.9 billion figure is almost double the $2 billion a month
estimate issued by administration officials in April. In addition, the
cost of operations in Afghanistan are now $900 million to $950
million monthly, Rumsfeld said.

7. Liar or bad manager
I know smirk is both, but in terms of talking to normal people, I wonder which is the better argument.

1. Bush is a liar who is only looking out for his small circle of friends.

OR

2. Bush is a terrible manager who has managed to run America into the ground, get us into a war where young soldiers are getting killed every day and costing us 4 billion a month, ruining the economy, losing the war on terrorism .....

OR

3. all of the above.

8. Does Anyone Know What the Education Budget is in this country?
I'd like to put this 4 billion in perspective -

What's being spent on education, healthcare, etc.

It's frickin ridiculous.
