Anybody else notice how obnoxious and off
the Mark Micheal Reagan was when he spoke? He was a fundie Christ fest. Claimed his father, to whom religion was a private thing, gave him the gift of Christ. He also talked about what a swell Dad he was. Now, I might have believed him if he hadn't written a book saying the opposite. He claimed Reagan never mentioned that he was adopted. He didn't mention that Regan never even recognized him when he didn't have Alzheimer's. Anyway I thought his religiosity was over the top, bad mannered and delusional. I thought Ron. Jr. Handled himself beautifully and was able to present a nice picture of his Dad without resorting to fiction.Patti did well too. I also thought Ron did well with his thinly veiled criticism of Bush about the difference between religious responsibility and a "Mandate".When he said "and I assure you there is a difference", He effectively separated his Dad from Bush, and from Michaels RW nonsense!

5. Maureen's Mother is Jane Wyman
Maureen died several years ago. Some form of cancer or lymphoma I believe.

She was one of the few republican women who refused to be a Stepford Wife, and stood up for women's rights.

6. Maureen died in Aug. 2001
of melanoma--skin cancer (spelling ?) skin cancer, Maureen was pro-choice and moderate. It's too bad she wasn't able to influence her father more but she said herself that the RWingers kept her away from him as much as possible. :-(

10. And Jane Wyman visited the Reagan home
the day Ronnie died. There was a picture of her walking in. She also had a statement read before the California memorial stating what a kind and gentle man Reagan was. What a class act she is. All these years and she has never dished or done anything to embarrass Ronnie. I am sure we will always wonder what she really thought.

7. Just feel pity for Michael
He is desperately trying to rewrite the story of his life, by making people believe that he was nutured and loved by Ron Reagan.

I don't think Michael was abused or neglected, he certainly had more material things than most children - but I don't think he was nutured.

He said his father never called him adopted. Well, any well adjusted adopted person I know doesn't have to keep repeating that they were adopted. He seems to talk about the fact he was adopted all the time.
I don't know why he was adopted, I don't know the story.

His RW behavior is another sign of trying to fit in- he uses his father's name to get invited into the inner circle and then follows the behavior of today's republican so that he will be liked. He is not like Ron or Patti who can speak of their father and even of his faith (which frankly surprised me a bit - particularly Patti) without having to say - I know how my dad felt about God, blah blah blah.

It is interesting that Patti used her mother's name - so as to carve out her own identity. Michael embraces the name Reagan - it is all he seems to have.

...he's such an obnoxious asswipe.

Can't we just dislike him for what he has become?

11. Very well said.
I do feel pity for him as he so desperately wants to be accepted. You could see that even physically as he barged his way into photo ops and practically shoved Pati and Ron out of the way to grab Nancy, who has never been fond of him.I just can't stomach the fundie RW religious angle. In People magazine,Micheal said he made a prayer circle around Reagan's house and he and his wife and children blessed the house and his father! Please! If you do something like that it should be kept private. I'm sure that Nancy is not comfortable with this as she is very secular and has never been religious. I think it is a disservice to the regans as he is also trying to cushy up to the RW by implying that this is what the reagan's believe and by all accounts, that is not so. I would slap his santimonious face if I were one of the Reagans. I might be tempted to do it anyway ,just on general principles!
